Anushka Shankar, daughter of popular sitarist Ravi Shankar, is angry at Air India. He himself is a sitar player. Recently Anushka traveled in Air India, but as soon as she landed, she was given a broken sitar, whereas before the journey her sitar was absolutely fine. Now, showing the condition of the broken sitar, Anushka has expressed her anger on Air India.

Anushka Shankar has shared a video of a badly broken sitar on her official Instagram and has written –

I am very upset and heartbroken with the way Air India has treated my Sitar. How is such harm possible in a world without deliberate harm? This is all the more sad because I have flown in Air India after a long time and it seems that even Indian instruments cannot remain safe with them, whereas in thousands of flights on other airlines, I have not had even one peg go out of tune.

In the shared video, Anushka is saying, ‘First of all, when I looked at my sitar from above, I found it out of tune. I picked it up after tuning it and tried to play, then I realised. I was traveling in Air India after a long time. You are the country from where this music (sitar) is made and this is the first time that something like this has happened to me in 15-17 years.

Anushka further said, ‘How did you do this, I have a special case for this, you take handling charges, yet you did this.’

After Anushka’s post surfaced, many celebs including Zakir Khan, Vidya, Papon are strongly condemning Air India.

Zakir Khan has written, ‘This is extremely heart breaking’, while Papon has written, ‘These days, true care has become very rare, as if the feeling of caring has disappeared from our lives. Air India, this is truly heart breaking.
