Telecom company Bharti Airtel has made a profit of Rs 4,160 crore in the first quarter of the financial year 2025. It has increased by 157.90% on an annual basis. The company had made a profit of Rs 1,613 crore in the same quarter a year ago.

In the April-June quarter, Bharti Airtel’s consolidated operational revenue (income from operations) grew 2.85% year-on-year to Rs 38,506 crore. In the same quarter a year ago, the company’s revenue was Rs 37,440 crore.

Airtel’s Indian business

  • Airtel’s revenue from India business stood at ₹29,046 crore in the first quarter.
  • Company’s revenue increased by 10.1% compared to Q1FY24.
  • Airtel spent Rs 6,781 crore on operations in India in Q1.
  • Airtel has around 41 crore customers across the country and 56.8 crore worldwide.

What is standalone and consolidated?
The results of companies come in two parts – standalone and consolidated. In standalone, the financial performance of only one unit is shown. Whereas, in consolidated or consolidated financial report, the report of the entire company is given.

Airtel’s stock rose 45% this year
After the results, Airtel’s stock closed at Rs 1,469 today (Monday, August 5) after falling 1.66%. The company’s stock has given a return of 2.75% in one month, 31.92% in 6 months and 64.80% in one year. Airtel’s stock has risen 45.01% this year i.e. from January 1, 2024 till now. The company’s market-cap is Rs 8.82 lakh crore.

Bharti Airtel’s ARPU stood at Rs 211
Bharti Airtel’s ‘average revenue per user’ (ARPU) grew by 5.5% to Rs 211 during the April-June quarter. It was Rs 200 in the same quarter of the previous financial year. The company has increased the recharge prices by 25% from July 3.

Bharti Airtel was started in 1995
The Indian government first started issuing licenses for mobile services in 1992. The company’s founder Sunil Mittal understood the opportunity and, in partnership with French company Vivendi, acquired licenses for Delhi and surrounding areas. In 1995, Mittal formed Bharti Cellular Limited to offer cellular services and began operating under the Airtel brand.
