These figures were revealed in the Encord Committee meeting held on Friday under the chairmanship of District Magistrate Anshul Singh. Drug eradication efforts, public awareness and rehabilitation plans were discussed in the meeting. DM directed that the drug-free Devbhoomi Mission should not remain only on paper, but should reach every village and school.
He asked the police, health and education departments to jointly run the campaign. Besides, instructions were given to install CCTV cameras in all medical stores and provide counseling facilities to drug addicts.

According to state police data, 3,431 drug-related cases were registered in the last three years. More than 4,440 accused were arrested in these cases. Police say that special SOG and anti-drug cells are continuously active in every district. In their operations, narcotics worth crores of rupees have been seized so far.
Increasing trend of MDMA and synthetic drugs
Along with traditional drugs like charas, ganja and heroin, the use of MDMA and synthetic drugs has increased rapidly. Their supply is being done through online mediums and social media networks, which has become a new challenge for the police.
Narcotics worth Rs 208 crore seized
In the operation so far, the police have recovered 681 kg hashish, 59 kg heroin, 4,954 kg ganja, 61 kg opium and 649 kg doda. Apart from this, 7.18 lakh intoxicating capsules, 38 thousand injections and more than 7 lakh pills were seized. Their total market value has been estimated to be around Rs 208 crore.
