Sulaiman Isa Khan, son of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has claimed that Pakistan is moving towards dictatorship. He cited his father being in jail for a long time as an example of this.
In a virtual press conference with news agency ANI, Solomon said that his father has been being treated inhumanely for the last several years and the army has a big role in it.
Imran Khan’s health condition was discussed in the press conference. Solomon was joined by his brother Qasim Khan, international lawyer Jared Genser and advisor on international affairs and media Syed Bukhari.

Imran’s son said – not able to meet his father
Imran’s sons said that they are trying to meet their jailed father, but their efforts are continuously failing. He says Pakistani authorities have repeatedly postponed or rejected his visa application.
Qasim Khan said, “If we get any chance to see him, we would like to go immediately. We want to come to Pakistan, but now the situation is becoming more desperate. Our visa applications have been rejected, postponed and stuck again and again.”
Qasim said, “My father is constantly being kept in solitary confinement. He is kept locked for 23 hours in a 6×8 feet cell, which has no window and no light. He is 73 years old and has lost 85 percent of the vision in one eye. He still stands firm on his principles, but now his body is paying the price for it.”
Lawyer’s allegation- General Munir is running an arbitrary rule
Imran Khan’s international lawyer Jared Genser raised serious questions on the state of democracy in Pakistan. He held the country’s military leadership responsible for this and accused Army Chief Asim Munir of ‘authoritarianism’ i.e. repressive rule.
Jenser said,
The way action is being taken against Imran Khan and his wife is not like the style of any democratic government.
He claimed that hundreds of cases have been registered against Imran Khan on the basis of fabricated allegations. This matter is no longer limited to his jail only. According to Genser, his arrest is also a warning to those who may try to challenge power in Pakistan.
Zenser further said,
By keeping him in jail, the government is trying to give a clear message to the people of Pakistan that they should not try to stand against the government.
Genser said, “Imagine if we can do this to Imran Khan, whom the whole world knows, then what can be done to a person whom the world does not know?”
Controversy regarding treatment of Imran Khan
There is also controversy regarding Imran Khan’s health and his treatment in jail.
On August 18, a three-judge bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan had directed the authorities to take Imran Khan from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital in Islamabad within 48 hours for treatment.
The court had also directed that Imran Khan should be examined by an independent medical panel. This was to include cardiologist, eye doctor, general practitioner and his personal doctor Dr. Faisal Sultan.
However, on August 20, instead of taking Imran Khan to Shifa International Hospital, the authorities took him to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS). There he was medically examined for several hours. After this he was declared medically fit and sent back to Adiala jail.
Imran Khan’s team alleges that a ‘dummy convoy’ was sent from the jail in the direction of Shifa Hospital, so that it seemed as if Imran Khan was being taken there.
The team also claimed that his personal doctor Dr. Faisal Sultan was waiting for him at Shifa Hospital, but he was not given a chance to examine Imran Khan.
After Imran Khan was taken to the hospital, all the lights were switched off there. The mobile phones of the staff were also confiscated and the media present outside the hospital was removed from there.
Sister Nooreen Niazi meets Imran again
Imran Khan’s sister Noreen Niazi met him in Adiala jail on Tuesday. This is the second consecutive week that Noreen has met her brother, following the Supreme Court’s direction.
On August 18, the Supreme Court had ordered that prisoner Imran Khan be allowed to meet his family members once a week. The court had also directed that the government should make arrangements to talk to his sons on phone twice a week.
Following the Supreme Court’s direction, Imran Khan’s family had assured the court that they would not talk to the media.
According to PTI lawyer Awais Yunus Chaudhary, Noorin Niazi’s meeting with Imran Khan on Tuesday lasted for about 45 minutes.
He said that Imran’s two other sisters were also waiting in the car outside the jail. After Noorin Niazi came out of jail, the three sisters left without talking to the media.
