अमेरिका- 10 लाख भारतवंशी वोटरों के नाम कटने का खतरा: ट्रम्प ने SIR जैसी वोटर लिस्ट जांच शुरू की, 125 करोड़ रुपए से डेटाबेस बनेगा

US President Donald Trump has started investigating the voter list on the lines of India’s SIR (Special Intensive Revision). A fund of about Rs 125 crore has been released for this. In this process, the National Voter Database will be prepared after checking the voter list. Due to this, there is said to be a danger of the names of about 10 lakh out of 26 lakh Indian origin voters present in America being deleted. The government aims to complete this process before the midterm elections in November. Trump gave the responsibility of the database to ICE. The Trump administration has given the responsibility of monitoring the voter database to its immigration agency ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement). Companies have been tasked with checking voter lists and updating databases in all 50 states. Voters’ information will be matched with different government records. There will be no door-to-door survey. Unlike India, door-to-door survey of voters is not being done in America. The voter list will be matched with other records including immigration records through computer. If the name or information in the records does not match, the information of the concerned voter may be re-checked and there will be a risk of the name being deleted. Why is there a fear of greater impact on Indian-origin voters? There are about 26 lakh Indian origin voters in America. Their numbers and political influence are considered very important in states like New York, New Jersey, California and Texas. The rules for voter identification and registration are different in these states. Due to matching of records in the new investigation process, names of voters of Indian origin will also come under the ambit of investigation. According to the report, the voting pattern of Indian-origin voters can also be monitored. However, how many people’s names will actually be removed will become clear only after the process is completed. Trump is a supporter of making voter ID mandatory. Trump has been supporting the demand to make photo ID mandatory for voting in America. He says that this will help in preventing irregularities in the elections. They have been demanding the US Parliament to pass the ‘Save America Act’. Now political controversy may increase in America regarding nationwide investigation of voter lists and efforts to create a national database. Its impact will be especially significant in those states where Indian-origin and other migrant voters play an important role in the election results. What is the Save America Act? The Save America Act is a bill proposed to further tighten voter registration and voting rules in the United States. Under this, it will be necessary to show documentary proof of citizenship at the time of voter registration and photo ID at the time of voting. This bill also talks about significantly limiting the process of voting by post. This bill has been passed by the US House of Representatives, but it has not yet been approved in the Senate. Elections in America are conducted differently from India. In America, a central institution like the Election Commission of India does not conduct elections for the entire country. There the responsibility of elections is mainly handled by state and local administrations. For this reason, the rules of voter registration and identification are also different in different states. In America, voter identification rules vary by state. In many states, it is sufficient for the voter to declare his identity, while in some states, identity documents are necessary. Documents like passport or birth certificate may be asked for in 12 states. In California, voter signatures are matched. There was a controversy over removal of names in Texas earlier too. In Texas, the matter had reached the court after the names of about 24 thousand people were removed from the voter list. Relief was granted in this case from the Federal Court and the related case is still pending. For this reason, there is a possibility of the Trump administration’s new voter list investigation being challenged in the court. ———————- Also read this news… America targeted 3 oil tankers of Iran: Explosion near Kharg Island; Trump threatened to blow up nuclear base Pickaxe.
