A 28-year-old Punjabi Sikh truck driver was attacked with a knife 17 times in Wyoming, America. He suffered injuries on his neck, chest, arms and ribs. He has been admitted to the hospital. The police have arrested the accused. He has been identified as Andrew Chris Bajdak. He has been charged with attempted first-degree murder. Days before the attack, the Trump administration’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had posted a controversial post titled ‘Mr Singh’ targeting immigrant truck drivers. However, the police have not yet revealed any connection between the two incidents. The motive of the attack is also not clear. The attacker followed him into the bathroom. According to NPR, the driver identified himself only by the surname Singh. On Sunday morning, he had gone to the bathroom at the Kebiter Creek Rest Area on Interstate-80. Meanwhile, a person followed them inside and attacked them with a knife. According to Singh, the attacker attacked continuously. He somehow came out of the bathroom and called for help. A Hispanic family present there heard his voice and arrived to help. The family tried to stop the bleeding and informed the police about the attacker’s truck. After this, Wyoming Highway Patrol stopped the suspicious truck near Rollins and arrested the accused. This place is about 113 km away from the incident site. Indian-origin MP expressed concern over the incident. Indian-origin member of the US Congress, Raja Krishnamurthy expressed concern over the attack. He said on X that the incident of a Sikh truck driver being stabbed 17 times at a rest stop in Wyoming is disturbing. Singh has been driving trucks in America for almost 3 years.
