Accused Rahul Jat had kidnapped a B.Com second year student living in Motiwala area of Pardi taluka of Valsad. He took her to the bushes at gunpoint and after raping her, strangulated her to death. Not only this, the accused had returned to the same place on the evening of the incident and also raped the body of the student two-three times. Meanwhile, hearing the sound of some people coming, he hastily ran away leaving his T-shirt and bag behind.
The accused was seen strolling at Valsad railway station on the day of the incident.
When the student who was the victim of the incident did not return home till late evening, the family started searching for her. Police were informed and two police teams also started the search. The student was seen returning home from tuition in a CCTV camera. But after this it disappeared midway. Therefore the police started searching the area near the railway track. Ultimately his body was recovered from the bushes near Motiwala Gate at night. The primary report of the Panel PM had revealed rape and subsequent murder by strangulation.

Pardi police had registered a case against an unknown person. After this, a total of 10 different teams of Valsad District Police including Valsad LCB, SOG were engaged in the investigation. Police had found an empty bag and a T-shirt near the girl’s body.
On the basis of these two evidences, the police started searching for the accused. After this, the CCTV footage near the railway track was checked and a person wearing discarded clothes was seen hanging the same bag from the parking camera. After this the police started searching for him also. Finally, on the 11th day of the incident (24 November), the accused was arrested from Udvada railway station in Gujarat.

Accused Rahul has confessed that a day before this incident, he had also killed a woman during a robbery in Secunderabad, Telangana. Earlier in October, he had raped and murdered a woman in a train near Solapur railway station in Maharashtra. In October itself, he had stabbed a passenger to death at Mulki station in Karnataka over the trivial matter of not giving him beedi.
