Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Ranveer Shorey talked to Dainik Bhaskar on the film ‘Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa’. Rajat Kapoor stars in the film, has written, directed and produced it with Applause Entertainment. He told that Sohrab Handa is such a character which attracts everyone’s attention. Ranveer Shorey and Vinay Pathak talked about the depth of the story and characters. This murder mystery film has been streamed on ZEE5 on April 10. Question: The title of the film ‘Everybody Loves Sohrab Handa’ is interesting. What is it about Sohrab that every character connects with him? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: Sohrab Handa is a special person. Some people take over the atmosphere as soon as they enter the room. Sohrab is also like that. He wants everyone’s attention and he finds a way to do it. His personality is magnetic. Question: Ranveer, what would you like to say about Sohrab Handa? Answer / Ranveer Shorey: As Rajat sir said, he always wants attention. There are people in the industry who want higher prices. He connects with different people in different ways, but one thing is common – he wants attention. Question: Vinay ji, you are playing the character of Sohrab Handa. What did you have to do for this? Answer / Vinay Pathak: It was easy for me, because the script was well written. Rajat writes after doing a lot of research. Every character seems connected to real life. That’s why it became easier to follow. All the characters have depth and interest. Question: Rajat ji, the characters of the film are influenced by real life. Did you write the story inspired by any particular person? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: A character is not written looking at any one person. We create characters by taking experiences, small things from friends and people around us. All the characters in the film are special, so that the relationships can be shown well. Question: Are all the characters clear in your mind while writing? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: Yes, there is an idea in which direction the story will go. Later the actors further enhance the character. Question: Ranveer, what was your first reaction when you heard the story? Answer / Ranveer Shorey: When Rajat writes something new, there is enthusiasm to read it. I have learned a lot by working with him. The film may look ordinary on the outside, but is different and special from inside. Rajat Kapoor:: The film has a wonderful cast – each one is brilliant. Working with such good actors is a special experience. Question: Vinay ji, the way the father-son relationship has been shown in the film. How much do you feel connected to it? Answer / Vinay Pathak: The character may be imaginary, but there is truth in it. Many times it will seem that these are the people around us. This is the mark of a good character that it seems real. Rajat Kapoor: If the audience feels that they know these characters, then that is the real success of the film. Question: Was there any emotional or difficult moment during the shooting? Answer / Ranveer Shorey: There were 15 characters together in many scenes. It was difficult and exciting to do such scenes. Rajat Kapoor: It was challenging to get so many characters right in one frame, but that was the fun. In the beginning everything seemed chaotic, then gradually it became settled. Question: How was the experience of working with Applause Entertainment? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: Very good. He immediately said yes after reading the script and was supportive the entire time. He did not interfere in the work, which made the work easier. Question: In which genre will you keep this film? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: It is a murder mystery, but the focus is not just on “who did it” but more on “why?” Question: Vinay ji, how do you see the change in content and audience preferences? Answer / Vinay Pathak: This change is good. Now story based films are being made. With the advent of OTT, platforms have increased, giving opportunities to all types of stories. Question: Where do you place this film in today’s content-driven cinema? Answer / Rajat Kapoor: I do not think that completely content-driven cinema is going on. We wanted to make a film and made it. Time will tell what happens next. Ranveer Shorey: Such films have a special audience. It is not big, but it is definitely present. Vinay Pathak: We hope that the audience of such films increases gradually.
