Mohammad Shariful Islam, accused of attack on Saif Ali Khan, has filed an application to confess his crime. He has also appealed to the court to show leniency. His lawyer Vipul Dushing has confirmed this. The court has asked the prosecution to file a reply and adjourned the hearing till September 11, PTI reported. Late night on January 16, 2025, a person who entered Saif’s house with the intention of robbing attacked him. Shariful Islam was arrested two days after the incident, who is still in judicial custody. Earlier this month, Additional Sessions Judge GP Deshmukh had framed charges against Shariful Islam. With this, the way for trial in the case was cleared. Islam has been charged with robbery using a deadly weapon, causing grievous hurt and house trespass under relevant sections of the Indian Code of Justice (BNS). Relevant sections of the Foreigners Act and Passport (Entry into India) Rules have also been imposed on him. Investigation had revealed that Shariful Islam is a Bangladeshi, who is living in India illegally with the help of fake documents. After the attack, the son had asked – Are you going to die? In a recent interview given to Mojo Story, Saif, while talking about the attack, had said, ‘I went to the children’s room. The man was holding the child (Jeh). He had slightly injured the child and also injured our maid. Maybe if I had switched on the lights earlier and tried to talk to him, the situation might have been different. But at that time I attacked him without thinking and our scuffle started. After this he became uncontrollable with a knife. There was blood and chaos all around. Saif further said, ‘I really wanted to be with Taimur. I asked him if he would come with me to the hospital. He looked at me and asked, ‘Are you going to die?’ I said, ‘No, my back hurts a lot, but I’ll be fine’, he said, ‘Yes I will.’ Saif also said that the person had stabbed him with full force. A 6-inch piece of the knife was left in his back. That piece was near the spinal cord. Saif said, ‘One of my legs was becoming numb, I was very close to being paralyzed.’ Saif wants to forgive the person who attacked him. In this interview, Saif has said that he wants to forgive the person who attacked him. Saif said, “I also wanted to forgive that man because I think he made a huge mistake. I don’t think he wanted to fight. I would have happily forgiven him, but I am finding it difficult to forget the way he tried to kill me. It is a matter of rich and poor and it is because of this inequality that this has happened.”
