The Indian Army is preparing to purchase BrahMos supersonic cruise missile with a range of more than 800 kilometers. At present the Army has BrahMos missile with a range of 450 km.
According to news agency ANI, defense officials said that the Army is planning to place a big order for this new version. This proposal may soon be approved in a high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry.
BrahMos missile was used in Operation Sindoor during the India-Pakistan war in May 2025. Indian forces had targeted many bases of Pakistan Air Force.
Increasing focus on missile force and drones
The defense forces are working on creating a dedicated missile force and increasing the number of missiles. The Army is also manufacturing drones on a large scale in its workshops. The ongoing conflict between America, Israel and Iran has further increased the importance of long-range missiles.
In view of the new generation war, the army is including drones and missiles on a large scale. Under this, special drone regiments and platoons are being formed in artillery and infantry units.

However, it has also been claimed in some reports that this missile has been named after two rivers, Brahmaputra of India and Moskva River of Russia. It is believed that it is the fastest anti-ship cruise missile in the world.
