The National Film Awards ceremony took place in Gujarat on Tuesday.
Senior actor Sanjay Mishra has received the National Award for Best Supporting Actor for the film Bhashak. This is the first National Award for Sanjay Mishra, who has been a part of the TV and film industry for the last 35 years. When he was asked whose name he wanted to get written in the award, he got the name of his father Shambhunath Mishra written. Sanjay has also told that when he informed his mother about winning the National Award, her first question was – ‘Have you eaten or not?’
Manoj Muntashir, who won the Best Lyrics Award for Maidan’s song Jaane Do, said that when this song was being made, AR Rahman had said that it would get the National Award.

On winning the Best Supporting Actor award for the film Bhashak, Sanjay said, ‘First of all, I would like to thank the director who cast me in such a film. After this, I will thank Red Chillies, who promote such films and then I will thank Bhumi Pednekar, whatever work I do with Bhumi turns out to be good. It’s a lot of fun. Dum Laga Ke Haisha, got huge praise and now this second film. After that this script. It was a very real story. Artists should speak with their actions and not with their mouths. I think I fulfilled my responsibility.
When he was asked to whom he would dedicate his award. Sanjay Mishra said emotionally, ‘I was asked whose name I would like to write in the award. I got my father’s name written as Sanjay Shambhunath Mishra. Most importantly, there is the Information and Broadcasting Ministry in it, which brought us up, father’s salary came from there. There is PIB, in which father also worked.
When Sanjay Mishra was asked how his mother reacted to this, he imitated his mother and told her answer, which was – ‘Son, it is very good, but you have eaten the food, the program has been going on for a long time, they fed you some food. It would have been better if Papa had been there.
Sanjay Mishra arrived at the ceremony with his wife. On this he said- ‘Now some respect will increase in the house, otherwise what is the use of us husbands.’
Manoj Muntashir said- AR Rahman sir had already said that this song will get the National Award.
Manoj Muntashir received the Best Lyrics award at the 72nd National Film Awards for the song ‘Jaane Do’ from the Hindi film ‘Maidan’. On this he said, we made this song in AR Rahman sir’s studio in Chennai. Sir gave the tune at around 3 o’clock in the night. The tune is such that your eyes fill with tears. There was a swing on the terrace, sitting on it I wrote 2 lines – Let these threads of voices open and let the songs sing, Maidan mein dhoom na kam ho, Jaate hain hum jaane do. I came down, I narrated it to Rahman sir and Rahman sir, Boney Kapoor ji, our director Amit Sharma, everyone was there. As soon as these two lines came out of my mouth, Rahman sir said – Manoj ji, this is the National Award. See what a coincidence it was. At that time I kept smiling. But never thought that this would actually happen.
He further said, ‘I would like to tell my viewers and readers of Dainik Bhaskar that whatever expectations you have placed on me, I will not let them be broken. I have made my share of mistakes. After this I am committed not to let your expectations be messed with.
When asked to whom he would dedicate the award, he replied, ‘I have dedicated this award to my wife Neelam Muntashir. When I got the first award, there was a lot of pomp and fame, but between the first and second awards, some such incidents happened, in which Neelam’s standing with me as a companion, touched me deeply. I felt that our dearest friend is our wife.
Vijay Ganguly gets award for singing Aaj Ki Raat
Vijay Ganguly received the Best Choreography award at the 72nd National Film Awards for the song ‘Aaj Ki Raat’ from the Hindi film ‘Stree 2’. Tamannaah Bhatia was seen in the song. After receiving the award, Vijay Ganguly said- ‘I am moist, I still cannot understand that this award is in my hands. It will take 2-3 days to understand this. I just messaged Tamanna that the credit for this award goes to you. If you couldn’t do the steps that were taught, we probably wouldn’t have reached here. When I saw videos of small children dancing, I felt very happy. This is like a dream for an artist.
Karthik Aryan said- This feeling is unreal
Kartik Aryan has received the National Award for Best Actor for the film Chandu Champion. This is the first National Award of his career. Talking to Dainik Bhaskar after the ceremony was over, he said, I am very happy, I am with the entire family, it is a very emotional moment. Unreal feeling, not able to express.
Aditya Dhar said- I will dedicate the award to India
Aditya Dhar’s film Article 370 received the National Award for Best Feature Film. On this he said, ‘I will dedicate this award to India. I think such films uplift the country, no matter what people say but this film represents the country.
Second National Award to Shashwat Sachdev
Shashwat Sachdev received the Best Music Direction (Songs) award at the 72nd National Film Awards for the Hindi film ‘Article 370’. Before this, he has also received the award for Best Background Music for the film Uri: The Surgical Strike.
After receiving the National Award for the second time, he said, ‘I feel that there is a boy from Rajasthan, who grew up in a middle class family, you people have blessed him so much that he is here today. I am dedicating this award to my parents and wife.
Atul Gangwar said- It is difficult to express this feeling in words.
‘Main Nida’, a documentary on the life of late poet Nida Fazli, has received the ‘Best Arts and Culture Film’ award at the 72nd National Film Awards. Atul Gangwar, the producer of this documentary, remained very close to Nida Fazli for the last two and a half decades. After receiving the award he said, ‘It is difficult to express the feeling in words. Who wouldn’t feel good after receiving this award for one of the biggest contributions to cinema?
He further said, ‘Nida Saheb always brought glory to Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, when he passed away, Prime Minister Narendra Modi also read his song in Parliament. He said with emphasis on one line – No one gives way to anyone here, if you can walk after making me fall, then go. When the Prime Minister reads his writings, his heights are revealed.
