Kavita Seth is not only famous for Ghazal and Sufi music, but she has also sung many hit songs in Bollywood. His song Maula, do not stop me and you are the brothers, even today, the audience is climbing on the tongue. At the same time, the music of his son Kanishka Seth is also very popular among the younger generation. The pair of mother-son have sung and composed many songs together. Some of these famous songs are Rangi Sari and Khumari (Kesari 2). Recently, Kavita Seth and Kanishka Seth had a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar.

What is the importance of music in the life of both of you?

Answer/Poem- I think our life cannot be imagined without music. From waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, there is almost always music. My existence is related to music. When there were neither shows nor any performance during Kovid, we continued to rehearse. At that time, many times it was thought that if there was no music, what would I do. To be honest, I do not know anything other than music.

Answer/Kanishka – To be honest, I, mother and my brother, all three of us cannot think of their existence without music. I have grown up in the music atmosphere since childhood. But the mother’s story is slightly different. No one else in his family was associated with music, yet he had deep passion for music. She always wanted to learn more. We means me and my elder brother have seen music at home since childhood. This is the reason why the imagination of life without music is not possible for us.

When did you awaken interest in music? Did you adopt music just because of a family tradition?

Answer/Kanishka- I would like to give credit to my parents for stepping into the world of music. Initially, I was inspired by my mother and father. First I started learning violin, then took training in Western Classical Music and Music Production.

In childhood, my mind often felt more in sports. As soon as it was five o’clock in the evening, I used to go to play. But one day suddenly a different sense of music was awakened within me. When I first made a tune of my own, I realized that music is a very beautiful and magical thing. That moment changed my thinking. After that I never looked back, and since then this music-affair started, which continues even today.

How difficult it was for you to raise children after untimely demise of her husband?

Answer/Poem- That time was very difficult for me. Both children were very young. However, I did not face any problem financially, because I also used to earn. But the responsibilities became very high simultaneously. Children’s education, house care, focus on career and also repay the loan. It was not easy to do everything together. It felt like a mountain had broken.

But slowly I handled myself. That difficult time taught me that no matter how challenging the circumstances are, if we take them positive, then the same experience makes us even stronger.

How do you see Sufi music in today’s era?

Answer/Poem- In today’s atmosphere, in the atmosphere, I feel that Sufi music is the only medium that can relax to true people. When there are restlessness and confusion in the mind, this music calms them. You forget all your troubles and pain. Then whether you hear it for an hour or you are not aware of six consecutive hours. I do not think that in the music world, there can be more powerful form than Sufi music.

How do Sufi music and today create a new tune by combining today’s Bollywood Soundtrack?

Answer/Kanishka- I never took training to make music. One day I was making a tune like this, when the mother saw me. Then he sang a poem by Amir Khusro Saheb and I prepared a tune on it. The tune sat perfectly accurate on that composition. After this, the mother told me that we should build an album together. Then I thought why not add Sufi music and electronic music. Gradually, I understood that it is necessary to keep the beats of both in equal balance. It should not happen that one style dominates the other. And this was the biggest challenge for me. Then we made all the songs colored in Kovid Time.

What would you like to say about the song ‘Khumari’ in Kesari 2?

Answer/Poem- The song sung in Kesari 2 is actually a ghazal. Which I and Kanishka have composed together. The way Kanishka composed that song was really fantastic. When his video came, in which Masaba danced, he was also capable. I think he was the best combination of Poetry and singing.

Answer/Kanishka- ‘Khumari’ is a very unique song. When you hear Ghazal, the name of great artists of Ghazal first comes to your mind. Both of us are trying to bring different beats along and move it forward in a new direction.

Would you like to tell something about the upcoming projects?

Answer/Poem- In the coming time, a lot is going to come for the audience. The meditational album is fulfilled, which will be released soon. Kanishka has not only composed a song for the ‘Royals’ web series, but has also sung it.

Answer/Kanishka- Apart from the meditational album, work on another project is going on, in which ‘Maa’ (Kavita) is sung and I am composing it. Pulkit Emperor’s film Suswaagatam Khushmadid also includes a song of mine. This year a web series of Dharma Production is coming, which has a Najm which I have produced and composed.
