- APAR ID Update: Now Use Academic ID For Job Verification & Privacy Policy

The ‘Apar ID’ issued to students will now be useful for jobs after studies. The Education Ministry has updated the privacy policy on Apar portal on Thursday.
Now, apart from educational institutions, academic details can also be shared with authorized third parties like employers. That means the employer will be able to check the student’s degree-marksheet etc. only from Apar’s data.
Mark sheets, grade sheets, diplomas, certificates and other academic achievements are stored in it. It is clear in the policy that ‘AAPAR’ can use third party cloud service providers to store the personal data of students.
Data can be transferred for data availability, recovery and continuity of service.
Employers will be able to do verification only after the student’s approval
Question: Verification will happen without asking? answer: The student will provide Apar ID and other information in the application. However, once the ID is received, the academic record will not be visible. Verification will be possible only with the consent of the student.
Question: What will be the process? answer: The employer will have to register as a verifier. Then he will send a request for verification of any particular document of the student. Information about this will go to the student. He will approve through OTP or e-sign. After this the employer will be able to see the records.
Question: Will you be able to see the complete record? answer: No. The employer cannot view AAPAR’s records like a normal user. Certificates will not be opened without the approval of the student. The student can approve or reject the verification request.
Question: What will be the benefit of this? answer: The employer will be able to check the authenticity of the degree and institute mentioned by the candidate in his CV by looking at their digital record. The problem of fake degrees will end.
Question: Will there be concerns about privacy? answer: Data security and cyber security will be important in third party verification. The system will be reliable only when the security of records is ensured.
