An airhostess of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) was caught smuggling foreign currency at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport on Friday. The air hostess had hidden a lot of US dollars and Saudi riyals in her socks.

A video related to this is going viral on social media in which the staff of the investigation agency is taking out this currency from the socks of the air hostess. Its value is said to be lakhs of Pakistani rupees. According to the report of Pakistani newspaper Dawn, the air hostess has been sent to judicial custody on Saturday.

According to the report, Deputy Collector Customs Raja Bilal said that 1,40,000 Saudi Riyals have been recovered from the air hostess. Its value in Pakistani rupees is about 1 crore 4 lakh rupees.

A case has been registered against the air hostess and handed over to the investigation team.

PIA said- If proven guilty, he will be fired from the job
The Deputy Collector said that on the basis of suspicion, the air hostess was taken off the plane. After this, she was searched. A case has been registered against the air hostess and it has been handed over to the investigation team.

In the FIR against the air hostess, her name has been registered as AQ. The complaint states that the air hostess was on PIA flight number PK 203 from Lahore to Jeddah. It further states that the customs officers had received intelligence that the air hostess was smuggling foreign currency.

A case of smuggling has been registered against the air hostess. A PIA spokesperson has said that if the air hostess is found guilty after investigation, she will be fired from the job immediately.

Such incidents have happened before
Earlier, a similar case had come up in early 2024. Then a female flight attendant of PIA posted on a flight to Canada was detained at Toronto airport, several passports were found with her.

Hina Sani, who arrived in Toronto by PIA flight PK-789, was found carrying multiple passports of different people. Travelling with someone else’s passport other than one’s own is an international crime. According to Pakistani media reports, Sani had been warned earlier for bringing banned items into Canada.
