Film producer Vasu Bhagnani’s company Pooja Entertainment has filed a case of Rs 400 crore in the Bombay High Court against Tips Industries and film maker David Dhawan. This controversy is about the use of two songs from the 1999 hit film ‘Biwi No. 1’ in Varun Dhawan’s upcoming film ‘Hai Jawaani Toh Ishq Hona Hai’. Vasu Bhagnani claims that Tips does not have the visual rights of these songs. He has demanded to stop the release of the film and change its title. Tips has termed these allegations as baseless. Controversy over the songs ‘Chunari Chunari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’ Director David Dhawan’s film starring Varun Dhawan, Pooja Hegde and Mrunal Thakur is scheduled to release on June 5, 2026. In this, two famous songs of ‘Biwi No. 1’ ‘Chunari Chunari’ and ‘Ishq Sona Hai’ have been recreated. Pooja Entertainment has filed a petition in the court through lawyer VK Dubey Associates. It demands an immediate ban on the release, distribution and streaming of the film. The company says that the title of the film has also been taken from the song, so it should be changed. For non-compliance, additional compensation of Rs 100 crore has been demanded. Tips had only audio rights. Vasu Bhagnani’s lawyer told news agency ANI that earlier the rights of films were decided on the basis of agreements. Tips only owned the audio rights of these songs. In the year 2018, Tips had sent an email asking for visual rights, but no consensus could be reached between the two parties. Pooja Entertainment has now sent a notice and canceled the old audio rights given to Tips. The lawyer said that if the tips have legal rights, they will have to show the documents in the court. Tips Company termed the allegations as false. On the other hand, Ramesh Taurani of Tips Industries has completely rejected all these allegations. Tips issued an official statement on Thursday saying that they legally possess the music and audio rights of these songs. All the allegations made by Vasu Bhagnani are completely wrong. They will present their stand strongly in the court. Had expressed displeasure by releasing a video. Earlier, by releasing a video regarding the matter, Vashu Bhagnani had said, ‘I had a very big film ‘Biwi No. 1’, whose songs were stolen. Yesterday we held a press conference on this matter. I had clearly said that I have not given anyone the right to use its visuals. The matter is in the court and if anyone uses it, it will be contempt of court. He further said, ‘This morning I saw that its theatrical trailer is being launched. The general press and public are sitting there and meanwhile it is being said that our matter has been resolved, we have talked, but who talked to me? I am the owner and no one even called me. Neither WhatsApp message came nor any conversation took place. No one contacted me either legally or emotionally. I do not understand what is happening in the country. A case is going on in the court and even then lies are being told openly and things are being released.
