India’s Trisa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will play the semi-final match today in the women’s doubles of the World Badminton Championship 2026. The Indian pair will face world number-1 pair Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning of China. Trisa-Gayatri’s medal has already been confirmed.
The Indian pair had made it to the semi-finals by defeating China’s Jia Yi Fan and Zhang Shu Xian 16-21, 21-15, 21-13 in the quarterfinals.
Bad record against Chinese pair
These two pairs have come face to face 7 times before. In these, the Chinese pair has won 6 matches, while Trisa-Gayatri has got only 1 win.
However, the Indian pair is in great form in this World Championship. If they win this match, they will also become the first Indian pair to win silver in the championship.

Trisa-Gayatri won the last match with a comeback
In the quarterfinals, the Chinese pair took the lead by winning the first game 21-16. After this Trisa and Gayatri made a spectacular comeback. The Indian pair strengthened their defense and played better at the net to win the second game 21-15.
The Indian pair maintained the pressure in the third game also. Trisa-Gayatri took a lead of 10-5 and then did not give the Chinese pair a chance to make a comeback. They won the third game 21-13 and won the match.

After winning the quarterfinal match, both the players hugged each other.
Second Indian pair to win medal in World Championship
With this, Trisa-Gayatri have become the second Indian pair to win a women’s doubles medal in the World Championship. Earlier in 2011, Jwala Gatta and Ashwini Ponnappa had won the bronze medal.
