Afghanistan has claimed that its Air Force has carried out air strikes on ISIS positions in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Afghan Defense Ministry said that these bases were being used to plan attacks and carry out terrorist activities in Afghanistan. “We will target any place that poses a threat to our security,” the ministry warned. According to the ministry, action was taken in Saranan of Pishin district of Balochistan, Kambar Khel of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Shah Salim Valley of Chitral. Afghanistan claims that many terrorists were killed in these attacks. It was also said that a school in the Saranan area was being used as an ISIS base. Afghanistan said the action followed recent cross-border airstrikes by Pakistan, which the United Nations said killed several civilians. India had also earlier criticized Pakistan’s air strikes in Afghanistan, calling them an attack on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and a threat to regional peace.
