When a stunt scene is played in films, the audience gets thrilled to see the bravery of the hero on screen. But the truth behind the camera is sometimes more dangerous than this. Something similar happened with actor Vivek Oberoi, when his life was saved during the shooting of the initial film of his career, ‘Road’.

These days Vivek is busy promoting his upcoming comedy film ‘Masti 4’. Meanwhile, in an interview given to Mashable India, Vivek openly told how an accident that happened on a deserted road in Rajasthan in 2002 had shaken him.
Vivek told- I was shooting the film ‘Road’ in Rajasthan. We were going from Bikaner to Jaisalmer. It was night time and the roads were completely deserted. We had to reach that location for the scene. I told the driver several times to drive slowly, sand was flying ahead, the road was not visible properly, but the driver was probably in a hurry to reach there. I warned him to drive slowly at least 15 to 20 times.

Vivek told that he was sitting on the front seat of the car and was trying to rest due to fatigue. Then suddenly within a few seconds the situation became frightening. Due to the bright light coming from the front, the driver lost his balance and the car collided with the iron rods kept on the side of the road. The collision was so strong that the rods broke the windshield of the car and penetrated deep inside. One of the rods reached very close to my face and stopped there.
Vivek says- That moment was one of the scariest moments of my life. Just two inches and that rod would have entered my chest. Maybe then I wouldn’t be alive today. After the accident the entire team remained stunned for some time. Everyone understood that a major tragedy had been averted due to timely braking.

He said- It seems easy to show action in cinema, but in real life there is no script. Sometimes a small mistake can prove costly.
Today, when Vivek remembers that incident, he shudders. He says that time gave him a second life. He believes that that accident made him more responsible and taught him to be conscious about safety during every shooting.
