The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is preparing to directly participate in the US-Iran war. According to the report of Wall Street Journal (WSJ), UAE is trying to bring a resolution in the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). In this proposal, permission is being sought to use all methods to forcibly open the Strait of Hormuz. Under this, Hormuz Security Force will be formed, which will decide the security of the ships. The Strait of Hormuz is a very important sea route, through which about 20% of the world’s oil passes. Iran has closed this route, which is affecting the economy of the entire world. UAE may become the first Gulf country to directly participate in this war. In recent days, Iran has intensified missile and drone attacks on UAE. So far, about 2500 attacks have taken place, in which civilian structures like airports, residential buildings and oil facilities have been damaged. UAE is asking other countries to form an alliance UAE is appealing to the countries of America, Europe and Asia to form an alliance together and secure the strait. The UAE official told WSJ that Iran is fighting to save its life, so it is ready to destroy the entire world economy. UAE believes that if the proposal is approved by the UNSC, then the currently hesitant Asian and European countries can also come forward to help in opening Hormuz. Russia and China can veto the UAE proposal. According to the report, Russia and China can veto (stop) this proposal. The report quoted Gulf officials as saying that even if the resolution does not pass, the UAE is still ready to support the military efforts. The closure of the Strait of Hormuz is affecting the UAE’s oil supplies, shipping and food supplies. It considers it the lifeline of its economy. The UAE is considering removing mines, providing logistics support and playing an active role in the US-led operation. It has resources like Jebel Ali Port, airbase and modern fighter jets. The UAE has also suggested to the US that it capture the islands located in Hormuz, especially Abu Musa Island. Iran has occupied the island for nearly five decades, but the UAE claims it as its own. UAE bans Iranian people from coming to the country UAE Foreign Ministry has said that there is consensus around the world that ships should have freedom of passage in Hormuz. Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries have also now turned against Iran. They want the war to continue until Iran’s government becomes weak. Bahrain is taking this proposal forward. Voting on this may take place on Thursday. Earlier UAE used to help Iran with money and there were good relations between the two countries. UAE was trying to make peace before the war started, but now UAE considers Iran as a dangerous neighbor. UAE has also banned Iranian people from coming to the country. Besides, some Iranian institutions have also been closed. Iran warned of attack if it supports America. Since the beginning of the war, Iran has given strict warnings to the Gulf countries several times that if any country helps America in the war or joins the efforts to reopen Hormuz, then it will attack and destroy the important infrastructure of that country. Iran specifically targeted the UAE, saying that if they helped the US, their ports, aluminum plants, gas fields, and power facilities would be attacked. Why is Hormuz Strait important for Iran? The biggest reason for Iran’s strength is the geographical location of Hormuz. The Strait of Hormuz is very narrow and shallow. Ships passing through here have to pass very close to the mountainous coast of Iran. This is the reason why Iran takes advantage of this area and attacks its enemies. Iran has weapons that are small, easily hidden and can be used suddenly. These weapons are hidden in mountains, caves and tunnels. If needed, they can be launched from near the coast. Because of this, ships have little time to react if attacked. As soon as the missile or drone is visible, there are only a few minutes to take action.
