Swara had said, “I was very angry after seeing this and I said ‘shit’ in the theater itself. After thinking for 5 days, I wrote an open letter to director Sanjay Leela Bhansali.” After this statement of Swara, people on social media accused her of insulting the historical sacrifice. As the controversy escalated, Swara gave clarification. There was a controversy over Swara’s statement. After some time he shared a video on his Instagram account. She said, “A clip of mine is going viral on social media. I was asked why I had written an open letter after watching Padmaavat. Alauddin Khilji’s army defeats the Rajputs and enters the fort of Chittor. Deepika Padukone’s character ‘Rani Padmavati’ performs Jauhar with the women of the fort. In the film it is shown as an incident of people setting themselves on fire to avoid being caught.
