Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha is in conflict with his own Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). After removing him from the post of Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha, AAP even asked him not to give him time to speak from the party quota. Now there are speculations about his leaving AAP and joining another party.

However, Raghav Chadha is not the only leader who is the target of his own party. Since the inception of AAP, 30 big leaders have left the party. In which maximum 15 leaders are from Punjab. The leaders who bid farewell to the party from Punjab include big names like Sucha Singh Chhotepur, Advocate HS Phoolka and Gurpreet Ghuggi.
Not only this, Raghav Chadha, who was recently removed from the post of Deputy Leader of Rajya Sabha, is also from Punjab quota. AAP had also expelled Punjab’s sitting MPs Dharamveer Gandhi and Harjit Singh Khalsa from the party. Dharamveer Gandhi joined Congress and was elected MP again.
Not only this, Aam Aadmi Party also showed the way out of the party to sitting MLAs in Punjab or the MLAs themselves left the party. Sukhpal Singh Khaira was the leader of opposition in the party assembly when he was expelled from the party. Advocate HS Phoolka had also left the party while being LOP. A few days ago he joined BJP.

1. Shazia Ilmi Post: Founding member, prominent national level leader, 2014 Lok Sabha candidate. Reason: Shazia Ilmi in May 2014 accused party leaders of lack of internal democracy, running the party by a few people and deviating from core values. After that he left Aam Aadmi Party.
2. Captain G.R. Gopinath Post: Founding member, prominent national leader. Reason: Captain GR Gopinath distanced himself from Aam Aadmi Party in May 2014. He accused party leaders of ignoring party strategy and ignoring workers by the core leadership. He announced to leave the party.
3. Yogendra Yadav Post: Founder Member, Political Affairs Committee (PAC) Member, National Executive Member. Reason: Yogendra Yadav was expelled from the party by Aam Aadmi Party on 21 April 2015 due to anti-party activities. Yogendra Yadav alleged breach of discipline, dictatorship of Kejriwal and irregularities in ticket distribution. Because of which he was expelled from the party.
4.Prashant Bhushan Post: Founding Member, PAC Member, Senior Counsel. Reason: Prashant Bhushan was also thrown out of the party along with Yogendra Yadav. Prashant Bhushan had also accused the party leaders of dictatorship and corruption in ticket distribution. Taking disciplinary action, he too was shown the door in April 2015.
5. Anand Kumar Post: National Executive Member, Founder Member. Reason: The party also expelled Anand Kumar along with Yogendra Yadav, Prashant Bhushan on charges of carrying out anti-party activities. Anand Kumar had also openly opposed AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal.
6. Ajit Jha Post: National Executive Member. Reason: In April 2015, he was also thrown out by the party due to anti-party activities. He also opposed the dictatorship going on in the party and said that the party was deviating from its basic principles.
7. Mayank Gandhi Post: Founder Member, National Executive Member, Maharashtra Unit Head. Reason: Mayank Gandhi was appointed chief of the Maharashtra unit. In 2015, Kejriwal dissolved the Maharashtra unit. Angered by this, Mayank Gandhi left the party.
8. Anjali Damania Post: Maharashtra unit chief, national level leader. Reason: Anjali Damania had differences with Kejriwal. He accused Kejriwal of horse trading i.e. getting Congress MLAs with him. After which his differences with Kejriwal increased and he resigned from the party in March 2015.

9. Kapil Mishra Post: Minister in AAP government of Delhi, MLA from Karawal Nagar, nationally known leader. Reason: Kapil Mishra had differences with Satyendar Jain after which Kejriwal removed him from the cabinet. He made serious allegations of corruption against Kejriwal and Satyendar Jain and the party expelled them.
10. Alka Lamba Post: MLA from Chandni Chowk (2015 Delhi elections), prominent woman leader of Delhi unit. Reason: Alka Lamba alleged disagreement over the party’s working style, opposition to AAP’s proposal on Rajiv Gandhi and becoming a “Khas Aadmi Party”. There were allegations of being involved in anti-party activities. He resigned from the party in September 2019 and joined Congress.
11. Ashutosh Post: Prominent spokesperson, journalist-turned-politician, close to Kejriwal. Reason: Ashutosh wanted to go to Rajya Sabha but the party did not send him to Rajya Sabha. After which he left the party in 2018. In this he cited personal reasons. However, later he also talked about differences with the party leadership.
12. Ashok Aggarwal Post: National Executive Member. Reason: Ashok Aggarwal was one of the founding members of the party. In 2014, he raised questions on the arbitrariness of the party leadership and gave the status of a private limited company to the Aam Aadmi Party. After which he himself resigned from the party.
13. Ilyas Azmi Post: Founding member, former MP. Reason: Ilyas Azmi raised questions on Kejriwal’s dictatorship and lack of internal democracy in the party. He kept saying again and again that the party was deviating from its principles. After which he resigned in 2016.
14. Swati Maliwal Post: Rajya Sabha MP (from AAP quota), former chairperson of Delhi Women Commission, national level leader. Reason: Swati Maliwal has not left the party yet nor has she been expelled from the party. But she speaks strongly against the Aam Aadmi Party. Kejriwal’s aide Vaibhav Kumar accused of attack in 2024, then comments calling Atishi as dummy CM. AAP asked for resignation but Swati refused. She remained in the party but continued to criticize publicly.
15. Kumar Vishwas Post: Founding member, National Executive member, prominent spokesperson and poet. Reason: Kumar Vishwas has been a senior leader of the party. He was one of the closest people to Kejriwal. His name did not come even for Rajya Sabha. He started opposing Kejriwal. He raised questions about internal discord, disagreement over the post of Rajasthan in-charge and Kejriwal’s working style. He himself said that he neither resigned nor was fired. They stayed away from the party.
16. Naveen Jaihind Post: He is the former Haryana state president of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Reason : Internal strife, differences with the party’s working style and leadership. Jaihind had alleged that AAP is no longer a party of the common man, but has become a party monopolized by a family or a small gang. There was disagreement over Kejriwal’s working style. He left the party in 2022.

17. Dr. Dharamveer Gandhi Post: Elected as AAP Member of Parliament (MP) from Patiala in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He was the leader of the parliamentary party in the party. Reason: Support for dissident leaders like Yogendra Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, protests over his dismissal from the party’s national executive, walkout from the National Council meeting and sending messages at the Swaraj Samvad Sammelan. AAP accused him of anti-party activities, forming parallel organizations in the party and joining hands with BJP-SAD. Dismissed from the post of parliamentary party leader in April 2015. Suspended from primary membership on 29 August 2015. Later he joined Congress.
18. Pranab Rai Post : Former State Disciplinary Committee member of Punjab Unit, Advocate and one of the founding members of the party. Reason: Pranab Rai was accused of anti-party activities and indiscipline. The party warned him repeatedly, yet he did not step down, so he later resigned from AAP and formed a new front called ‘Aam Aadmi Party Volunteers Front’, accusing him of deviating from the basic ideology of the party. Suspended in September 2015 and formally left the party in October 2015 and formed a new front.
19. Harinder Singh Khalsa Post: AAP MP from Fatehgarh Sahib in 2014 Lok Sabha election. Reason: He was accused of anti-party activities, forming parallel organizations and joining hands with BJP-SAD along with Dr. Dharamveer Gandhi. The party blamed him for damaging AAP’s prospects in Punjab. On 29 August 2015, along with Dr. Gandhi, he was suspended from primary membership.
20. Suchcha Singh Chotepur Post: Convenor (State Chief) of AAP Punjab Unit. Reason: Accused of taking bribe in exchange for distributing tickets. A video of a sting operation surfaced, in which a demand of Rs 60 lakh and settlement of Rs 26 lakh was mentioned. The party’s PAC removed him from the post of convener and formed an inquiry committee. In August 2016, he was removed from the post of Punjab Convenor and after that he left the party.
21. Gurpreet Ghuggi Post: AAP Punjab Unit Convenor, key party functionary and popular personality (comedian-actor). Reason: Opposed the appointment of Bhagwant Mann as Punjab Unit Chief. Accused the party of “pick and choose” policy and deviating from core principles. He said that the party has now moved away from Punjabiyat and its core ideology. Resigned from primary membership on 10 May 2017. Now left politics.

22. Jassi Jasraj Post: Punjabi singer and party leader; AAP candidate from Bathinda in 2014 Lok Sabha election. Reason: Anti-party activities and YouTube videos accused the AAP leadership of involving former members of the BJP, SAD and Congress. The party expelled him from the party for 6 years in April 2016 on charges of breach of discipline.
23. HS Phulka Post: MLA from Mullapur Dakha, Ludhiana; LOP in Punjab Assembly. Leading lawyer in 1984 Sikh riots cases. Reason: He was unhappy with the working style of the party, Delhi’s interference in the Punjab unit, not taking action in sacrilege cases and not getting the party’s support on the 1984 riots. He said that the party deviated from its basic principles. First resigned from LOP post in June 2017; Resigned as MLA in October 2018, resigned completely from AAP on 3 January 2019. Joined BJP a few days ago.
24. Sukhpal Singh Khaira Post: MLA from Bhulath; LOP in Punjab Assembly Reason: Attacks on the central and state leadership, not giving autonomy to the Punjab unit and accused the party of deviating from its core ideology (Anna Hazare movement). Removed from LOP post in July 2018; Suspended for anti-party activities in November 2018. Resigned from primary membership on 5 January 2019. Khaira is now in Congress.
25. Kanwar Sandhu Post: MLA from Kharar; Came into politics from journalist background. Reason: Joined the rebel group along with Sukhpal Singh Khaira, was accused of attacks on central and state leadership and involvement in anti-party activities and was suspended along with Sukhpal Singh Khaira on 3 November 2018.
26. Baldev Singh Post: MLA from Jait. Reason: Accusing the party of “dictatorship” and “double standards”, he described AAP as behaving like traditional parties and abandoning its core principles. He said that decisions are not being taken by consensus, but by dictatorship. After making such allegations, he resigned from the primary membership in January 2019.
27. Pirmal Singh Post: Bhadaur to MLA Reason: Sukhpal Singh remained associated with Khaira’s rebel group. In 2018, he had also expressed disagreement with many MLAs against the removal of Khaira from the post of LOP. Resigned from primary membership of AAP in January 2019. Later in June 2021, he also resigned from the assembly seat and formally joined the Congress.
28. Navjot Grover Post: Prominent party leaders in Amritsar Reason: There were allegations of involvement in anti-party activities. He was also accused of breaking organizational discipline. After which she was suspended from being a primary member of the party on 29 March.
29: Baljeet Singh Channi Post: mayor of moga Reason: Channi was accused of supporting drug smugglers. After which the party removed him from the post of Mayor and also expelled him from the party on 27 November 2025.
30: Raghav Chaddha Post: Rajya Sabha Member, Deputy Leader Reason: Raghav Chadha was accused of working beyond the party line. The party removed him from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and also asked him not to speak on behalf of the party in the Rajya Sabha. After that Raghav Chadha is being accused of not speaking about Punjab. However, he has neither been expelled from the party nor has he resigned from the party.
