The teaser of Ranbir Kapoor’s film ‘Ramayana’ has been in the news ever since its release. Now actor Sunil Lahiri, who played the role of Laxman in Ramanand Sagar’s ‘Ramayana’, has given his opinion on this.

Sunil has raised questions on Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Ram’ avatar. He says that the innocence and coolness that was there in Arun Govil is not visible in Ranbir.

He has also expressed his views on the huge budget of the film and the coordination of emotions.

There is VFX in the teaser, but no emotions

Sunil Lahiri said in a conversation with DNA that it is not right to judge a film only on the basis of its teaser. According to him, grand sets and state-of-the-art VFX are visible in the teaser, but some things have disappointed him.

Sunil said, the teaser is like a showcase, in which the maker is showing its grandeur and visually rich background. Watching the teaser, I am a little irritated by some aspects.

The film will not work without emotions

Sunil compared the film with the big films of the world and the old Ramayana. He said that films like ‘Avengers’ or ‘Titanic’ worked because the emotions in them were very strong. Sunil said, even though Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayana did not have very good VFX or a big budget, the emotions were so strong that even after 38 years, people consider it the best.

You may spend Rs 4000-5000 crore, but if the emotion quotient is not strong, people will not connect with the film.

Ram’s coolness is not visible in Ranbir

Talking about Ranbir Kapoor’s look, Sunil said that Ranbir is looking fine, but his face lacks the innocence of Ram. He said, the patience and innocence that was visible on the face of Arun Govil is missing. However, I hope he does justice to the character with his acting.

Sunil further said that after a film like ‘Animal’, it will be difficult for the audience to suddenly see Ranbir as Lord Ram. He would have seemed more fit for the role of Laxman or Bharat rather than Ram.

Superstar’s image becomes a big obstacle

Sunil Lahiri believes that it is better to cast new faces for characters like Lord Ram. He argued that when a superstar plays such a role, the audience has images of his previous films in their minds. He said, while entering the theatre, a special image of the actor remains in the mind of the audience.

It is almost impossible for an actor to shed his old image and gain acceptance as a God. Let us tell you that Ravi Dubey is playing the role of Laxman in this film.
