1. Most sixes in a year in Tests

Yashasvi Jaiswal has reached the first position in terms of hitting most sixes in a single year of Test cricket. He will have 34 sixes in 2024. Before him, this record was in the name of former New Zealand captain Brendon McCullum, who had hit 33 sixes in 2014.

From India, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal made a century partnership, both adding 172 runs. Before both of them, Virender Sehwag and Aakash Chopra had done this twice during the 2003-04 tour.

This happened for the first time since 1986, when both Indian openers scored half-centuries in Australia. Till the stumps of the second day, Jaiswal returned unbeaten after scoring 90 runs and KL Rahul after scoring 62 runs. In 1986, Sunil Gavaskar and Krishnamachari Srikkanth scored centuries while opening.

6. Bumrah has the best bowling average in SENA countries

Bumrah’s average among bowlers who have taken at least 50 wickets in SENA (South Africa, England, New Zealand, Australia) countries is 22.63. He reached the top among Asian bowlers, followed by Pakistan’s Wasim Akram who took wickets at an average of 24.11. Bowling average means taking wickets by giving so many runs, Bumrah takes one wicket for every 23rd run.
