Posted on X yesterday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding India’s victory in the 1971 war. In this post, PM Modi honored the sacrifice of the soldiers who lost their lives in the war and described their contribution as important in India’s victory.

Now Law Minister Asif Nazrul in the interim government of Bangladesh has expressed objection to this post of Modi. Bangladesh minister wrote on Facebook that the victory of 1971 is the victory of Bangladesh, India was just an ally in it. Asif Nazrul also attached a screenshot of PM Modi’s post along with his post.

India and Bangladesh observed the 53rd anniversary of the 1971 war yesterday, December 16. Both the countries also organized programs regarding this victory in Kolkata and Dhaka.

India-Bangladesh pay tribute to war martyrs

Yesterday morning in Bangladesh, President Mohammad Shahabuddin and Chief Advisor to the interim government Mohammad Yunus paid tribute to the martyrs at the National Memorial in the capital Dhaka. Bangladesh gained independence from Pakistan with the help of India on 16 December 1971.

In Bangladesh, Independence Day is celebrated as Victory Day. This time, eight Indian soldiers and two serving officers involved in the 1971 war had reached Dhaka today to participate in the Victory Day celebrations. Eight freedom fighters of Mukti Vahini and two army officers from Bangladesh had reached Kolkata.

On 16 December 1971, 90 thousand soldiers of Pakistan Army surrendered to India. After this Bangladesh got independence from Pakistan.

Hasina called Mohammad Yunus a fascist

Former Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has called the head of the interim government Mohammad Yunus a fascist. In a statement issued on Sunday evening, a day before Bangladesh’s Victory Day, Hasina said Mohammad Yunus was leading a fascist government. This government is anti-independence and supporter of fundamentalists.

Sheikh Hasina said that anti-national forces captured power illegally and unconstitutionally through domestic and foreign conspiracies.

Hasina said that the aim of Mohammad Yunus’s government is to create anger in the minds of people against those who fought for freedom. This government is trying to erase the history and spirit of the liberation war.

First victory day after Hasina left the country

This was the first Victory Day in Bangladesh after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left the country. In Bangladesh, on June 5, the High Court had implemented 30% quota system in jobs, since then the students of universities in Dhaka were protesting. This reservation was being given to the families of freedom fighters.

When this reservation was abolished, the students started demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Within no time, a large number of students and common people came out on the streets against the Prime Minister and his government. Two months after this protest, on August 5, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and came to India. After this the army took command of the country.
