Gujarat Dr. Ganesh Baraiya, resident of Bhavnagar, has proved that to reach the destination, passion is not required to reach the destination. He has fulfilled his dream of becoming a doctor by winning the legal battle in the Supreme Court.
Passed medical entrance exam in 2018
In 2018, Ganesh was successful in the medical entrance examination. MCI (Medical Council of India) had refused him admission in MBBS in 2018 due to his short height and physical disability. Ganesh is 72% disabled. Ganesh was told that due to his height he would not be able to handle emergency cases.
After this he reached the High Court to challenge the decision of MCI. Here too he was disappointed and lost the case. Still Ganesh did not give up hope of fulfilling his dream. After the High Court he reached the Supreme Court.
Relief from Supreme Court
The Supreme Court gave relief to him and said that despite his low height, he can get admission in MBBS for medical studies. Following the instructions of the Supreme Court, Ganesh got admission in the Medical College located in Bhavnagar in 2019.
Despite all the difficulties, he did not give up and completed his MBBS studies in 2024. After this he did internship in Government Medical College. After completing the internship, he has now been appointed as a medical officer in a government hospital in Bhavnagar.
Did primary education from village school
Dr. Ganesh Baraiya told that my initial education was from my village. I had given the NEET UG exam in 2018, but at that time the Medical Council of India had rejected me due to my disability. We also lost the case in Gujarat High Court. Then the Supreme Court ruled that no one can stop you because of your disability and a seat will be reserved for you in 2019.
