Shishir Sharma said that he was deeply shocked after receiving the news of Sushant’s death on June 14, 2020. He told, “When I got the message about Sushant at 4 in the evening, I could not control my tears. It was very difficult. I felt a shock from inside… How, why, why would such a great actor, such a well-mannered man do this? There must be some reason. Someone like this commits suicide. Very sad.” Responding to a question on the possibility of suicide, Shishir Sharma said, “No, I don’t think it was suicide. He was not the kind of person who would take such a step. He was a very sorted man, very much sorted. I doubt he would commit suicide. You need a lot of courage and heart to do that. You can’t just get a rope and hang yourself, no.” Sushant died on 14 June 2020. Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in his flat in Bandra on 14 June 2020. Initially Mumbai Police had called it a case of suicide. However, following questions raised on social media and an FIR lodged by Sushant’s family in Patna, claims and allegations of both murder and abetment of suicide had come to light. Following the order of the Supreme Court and the recommendation of the Bihar government, the official investigation of this case was handed over to the CBI in August 2020. The CBI had said in its closure report in the court that no evidence was found to abet Sushant to suicide or any kind of criminal conspiracy or murder in his death.
