Liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) consumption across the country has declined by 17% in the first week of March. This effect has happened due to the war conditions in West Asia. According to the data of 3 government companies with 90% market share, LPG consumption has decreased compared to last year. LPG consumption in this period of March stood at 1.147 million tonnes, whereas in the same period last year it was 1.387 million tonnes. Consumption was 26.3% less in March compared to the first fortnight of February. On the other hand, demand for petrol and diesel increased. Petrol sales increased by 13.2% to 1.5 million tonnes and diesel sales increased by 8.2% to 3.384 million tonnes. At the same time, according to the LocalCircles survey, food has become expensive across the country due to the shortage of commercial gas. Due to rising costs, 57% restaurants and 54% street vendors have increased the prices of their products in a week. Government keeping an eye on LPG supply, 12 thousand raids. Central government said that there is no shortage of domestic LPG. Supply is normal. Strict action is being taken against black marketing and hoarding. More than 12 thousand raids have been conducted across the country so far. More than 15 thousand cylinders have been seized. States have been given strict instructions under the Essential Commodities Act. To reduce pressure on LPG supply, hotels, restaurants and other commercial consumers in urban areas are being encouraged to adopt PNG. States have been asked to speed up the approval process for laying city gas distribution pipelines. By strengthening the digital system, online booking of LPG has increased to about 94%. India’s Nanda Devi ship crossed the Strait of Hormuz and reached Vadinar Port in Gujarat on Tuesday. About 46,500 metric tons of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) was brought in this ship. Deendayal Port Authority Chairman Sushil Kumar Singh said that this gas will be transferred from one ship to another in the sea itself. Earlier, Indian ship Shivalik had reached Mundra Port with LPG on Monday. There are about 46 thousand metric tons of LPG on this ship, which is equivalent to approximately 32.4 lakh domestic gas cylinders. Currently, 22 ships and 611 sailors are stranded in Hormuz. According to the central government, 22 Indian-flagged ships with 611 sailors are in the Western Gulf. These also include 6 LPG carriers, 1 LNG tanker, 4 crude oil tankers. More than 50% of the people surveyed by LocalCircles said that restaurants and street vendors have increased the prices of food in a week. 57% people confirmed the increase in prices of restaurants. 54% say that street vendors have increased prices by 10-25%. In the survey, the opinions of 38,000 consumers in 309 districts of the country were sought.
