People protested at Badlapur Railway Station against the sexual harassment incident.
Thousands of people gathered on the local train tracks in Badlapur of Maharashtra’s Thane district after two KG girls aged 3 and 4 years were sexually abused in a private school.
On Tuesday, August 20, the mob first vandalised the school and then protested at Badlapur station from 8 am to 6 pm. The movement of local trains was halted for more than 10 hours. In the evening, the police lathicharged and cleared the railway track.
Cabinet Minister Girish Mahajan reached Badlapur station to talk to the protesters, but he had to return. After this, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced the formation of SIT. Apart from this, the government said that the case will be run in a fast track court.
Meanwhile, the state government suspended three police personnel, including a woman police inspector of Badlapur police station, for delaying the registration of a sexual assault case for 12 hours.
The tear gas shells fired by the police were picked up by the protesters with their hands and thrown at them.

The parents got suspicious. When they took the girl into confidence and questioned her, the matter came to light.
One of the parents contacted the parents of another girl of the same class. When the doctor examined the girl, the real incident came to light. Senior police inspector Shubhada Shitole hesitated in registering an FIR despite it being a POCSO case.
The girl’s parents lodged a complaint with the help of social workers at the Badalpur police station. Two days later, a case was registered late night on Friday, August 16. The accused was arrested on August 17. The accused Akshay was appointed on contract in the school on August 1.

On the other hand, people entered the school and protested and vandalized it. They demanded strict action against the accused. Kalyan-Badlapur local train service has come to a halt due to the protest that started at 9 am. Many organizations declared a Badlapur bandh in protest.
