Madhya Pradesh High Court on Wednesday removed the interim stay on the arrest warrant of Abhishek Banerjee. The lawyers on his behalf were not present in the court. After this, the relief given on the warrant issued from Bhopal’s MP-MLA court ended. Now Abhishek may be arrested

According to the information, Bhopal’s MP-MLA Court had issued an arrest warrant against Abhishek Banerjee. This action was taken when he did not appear in the lower court. He had challenged the order of the lower court against the warrant in the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
He had argued in the High Court that he was an elected MP and there was no possibility of him absconding. It was also said that the lower court did not give proper consideration to the application for exemption from personal appearance. On these arguments, the High Court had put an interim stay on the arrest warrant.
Abhishek Banerjee had called Akash a goon in the election rally in Kolkata.
Complaint filed in MP-MLA court in 2021
In November 2020, Abhishek Banerjee had reportedly called Akash Vijayvargiya a ‘goonda’ at a meeting in Kolkata. Akash filed a complaint in the MP-MLA court of Bhopal in 2021, calling it against his reputation and insulting. After this the hearing of the case started.
Warrant issued for non-appearance
The MP-MLA Court had issued an arrest warrant against Abhishek Banerjee for not appearing in the lower court during the hearing of the complaint. After this, he filed a petition in the High Court demanding a stay on the warrant.
The High Court had put an interim stay on the execution of the warrant in the preliminary hearing. However, in the latest hearing, the court found that despite getting adequate opportunity, effective advocacy was not done on their behalf, after which the interim relief was abolished.
Bhopal MP-MLA court warrant effective again
After the ban on arrest warrant has been lifted, the warrant of Bhopal MP-MLA Court has become effective again. Further legal process will continue as per the order of the lower court. Action can be taken under the instructions of the concerned court. After the High Court’s decision, Abhishek Banerjee’s legal challenges have increased.
