The Bombay High Court on Tuesday sought response from the Maharashtra Home Department and the city police on a petition. The petition demands action against a journalist and another person for allegedly making derogatory statements about Mahatma Gandhi.
Local Congress official and petitioner Ashwin Bais alleged that in a program organized by ‘Sakal Hindu Samaj Sammelan’, senior journalist Pushpendra Kulshrestha made extremely objectionable statements and said that Gandhi cannot be called the ‘Father of the Nation’.
In this petition filed through lawyer Akash Moon, the High Court has been sought to direct the Sitabuldi police of the city to take action on the complaint against Kulshrestha and the organizer of the February 15 event, Nishant Gandhi.

Air India will run special flights to bring stranded passengers in Shannon.
Air India is planning to run a special flight to Shannon on Wednesday to bring stranded passengers to Delhi whose flights were diverted to the Irish city due to a technical glitch in the aircraft.
On Monday, the airline’s A350 aircraft, which was flying from New York to Delhi, was diverted to Shannon due to a technical snag. Later, the plane was stopped in this Irish city itself.
The airline is planning to run a special flight on Wednesday – most likely from Zurich – to airlift passengers stranded at Shannon to Delhi, an official said on Tuesday.
