A train going from Balaghat in Madhya Pradesh to Itwari in Maharashtra derailed near Nagpur on Sunday. The incident occurred around 9.45 pm between Kalamana and Kamthi under Nagpur division of South East Central Railway, in which no one was injured. The front two wheels of the first coach of Balaghat-Itwari MEMU train (68715) slipped from the tracks.
A railway official said that the train was running at a controlled speed, due to which no passenger was harmed. He said that the passengers traveling in the train remained safe and there was no significant impact on rail traffic.
Eyewitnesses said they heard a loud bang just before the train derailed. It was also found that the wheel of one coach of the train was damaged due to the collision. Repair and restoration work has started at the incident site.
