Billionaire Pavel Durov (39), founder and CEO of the Telegram messaging app, was arrested at Bourget airport outside Paris on the evening of August 24. According to a CNN report, Durov was traveling on his private jet. He arrived at Bourget airport after flying from Azerbaijan.
According to BFMTV, officials of the Anti-Fraud Office of France Customs arrested Pavel. The reason behind his arrest was his inability to stop the sharing of content related to money laundering, drug trafficking and child sexual abuse on Telegram.
Arrest warrants were issued against Pavel Durov for failing to moderate content. According to BFMTV, Durov has not traveled regularly to France and Europe since the arrest warrant was issued.
