A marriage in Bahadarpura village located in Kandahar taluka of Nanded district of Maharashtra became an example of social concern and humanity. Usually, lakhs of rupees are spent on decorations, fireworks and grand events in wedding ceremonies, but the Pethkar family of Bahadarpura took a unique initiative by linking the marriage of their son Siddheshwar Pethkar with social service.
Pethkar family insured the entire village
On the occasion of the marriage ceremony of Siddheshwar Pethkar and Manjusha, the family decided to get accident insurance for about 3500 people of the entire village. The objective of this initiative is to provide economic security to the village people in case of any accident or untoward incident in future. The family believes that marriage should not only be an occasion for personal happiness but also a means of fulfilling one’s responsibility towards the society.
As soon as information about this initiative came to light in the village, an atmosphere of happiness and pride was created among the people. Villagers said that for the first time they have seen such a social message in a wedding. The elders of the village say that this initiative will become an inspiration for other families in the future.
The Pethkar family said that in today’s time, sudden accidents put many families in financial crisis. In such a situation, if facilities like insurance are already available then people can get support in difficult times. With this in mind, it was decided to link the marriage ceremony with the social security campaign.
This initiative became a topic of discussion
This step of the family is being widely discussed in the area. Social organizations and local citizens have also appreciated this initiative. People say that if capable people of the society link their personal events with social interest, then many needy people can be helped.
In Bahadarpura village, this marriage is no longer just a family event, but has become a symbol of social consciousness and collective responsibility. “The bride arrived and the village became safe.” This message has now become a topic of discussion in the entire area. This unique initiative of the Pethkar family proved that a new beginning of change can be made by thinking about the society on happy occasions.
