According to Dainik Bhaskar’s source, not four accused but a group of 10-15 people were involved in the murder of Siddiqui.
The conspiracy to murder NCP Ajit group leader Baba Siddiqui was being made 3 months ago. The accused had also gone to Baba’s house several times without weapons. This was disclosed by Mumbai Crime Branch on Tuesday night.
According to the police, the entire planning was done in Pune. Shooters Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap learned shooting by watching videos on YouTube. These people used to practice shooting in Mumbai without magazines.
Baba was shot dead on the night of 12 October. He was in his son Zeeshan’s office in Bandra. As soon as he came out, six bullets were fired at him.
After the incident, the police arrested three accused. The fourth accused was caught on 15 October. 3 are still absconding. Lawrence Bishnoi’s gang has taken responsibility for the murder.
Mumbai Crime Branch has so far recorded statements of more than 15 people, including many eyewitnesses present at the time of the incident.
3 revelations of Mumbai Police…
- The fourth accused Harish was the middleman. The arrested accused Praveen and Shubham Lonkar (absconding) had given Rs 2 lakh to the arrested shooters Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap. This money was delivered through Harish.
- Along with the money, two mobile phones were also provided to the shooters. Harish has been living in Pune for the last 9 years. The accused used Snapchat app for chatting and Instagram for making calls.
- To identify Baba Siddiqui, the accused were given Baba’s photo and told that he was the target. Reiki of the house and office was also done 25 days before the incident.
Who are the 4 accused arrested so far?
- Harishkumar Balkaram Nisad: He is a resident of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. Used to work as a scrap dealer in Warje area of Pune.
- Gurmail Baljeet Singh: He is a resident of Kaithal, Haryana. He is guilty of murdering his brother’s friend. After coming out on bail, he reached Mumbai on the call of Lawrence’s henchmen. No contact from home for 6 months.
- Dharamraj Rajesh Kashyap: He is a resident of Bahraich, Uttar Pradesh. When caught, he declared himself a minor. His lie was caught in the bone test.
- Praveen Lonkar: Runs a dairy with brother Shubham in Warje, Pune. Praveen had recruited two of the three shooters. It was he who arranged a room and bike on rent in Kurla for Gautam and Dharamraj.
Absconding accused Shubham has been caught in the firing case at Salman’s house. Shubham (Shubbu) Lonkar, who took responsibility for Siddiqui’s murder, was also interrogated in the case of actor Salmaal Khan. In April 2024, bullets were fired at Salman Khan’s house. In this case, the police had detained Shubham Lonkar and interrogated him. But the police had to release him. Because no evidence was found against him.
Shubham’s family was criminal, the whole village was afraid of his father and grandfather.
A neighbor in Shubham’s village told Dainik Bhaskar, ‘His father was addicted to alcohol. Because of this addiction his lands were sold. After this the family started working as labourers. When money was tight, Shubham and his brother Praveen shifted to Pune 6-7 years ago. Both of them ran a dairy there.
‘Both the brothers used to come to the village occasionally. Last time Shubham came in June. Shubham has studied only till 10th. Praveen had also left his studies midway. Baba Siddiqui: Started politics from Bandra, was MLA and minister 3 times Baba Siddiqui, a three-time MLA, has been a big face of Congress in Maharashtra. He has also been involved in many big movements. In February 2024, he joined Ajit Pawar faction’s NCP. Baba’s son Zeeshan Siddiqui is MLA from Bandra East.
Baba, who was once very close to Sunil Dutt, also held the responsibility of Food Minister of Maharashtra from 2004 to 2008. Their Iftar parties are famous during Ramadan. Bollywood celebrities also used to attend it.
Baba Siddiqui was also associated with real estate business. He had the contract for the development of two slums in Mumbai. His son Zeeshan also has some real estate companies, restaurants and properties in his name.
Angle of police investigation in Baba’s murder Mumbai Police has formed several teams to nab absconding accused Shivkumar Gautam, Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar and others. Police believe that it could possibly be a case of contract killing, business or political rivalry or a murder committed against a threat to the slum rehabilitation project. The police is investigating the case from this angle.
