Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) Commander-in-Chief Bashir Zeb has been removed from the post. BLA spokesperson Ziand Baloch has confirmed this. Bashir Zeb had made a name for himself by plotting many major attacks in Pakistan. In these attacks, Pakistani army, security forces, government structures and Chinese interests were targeted. It is being claimed in media reports that there was growing resentment against the Pakistani Army in the organization due to the failed operation against them and the use of female suicide bombers. He was removed only last month, now the news has come that BLA issued a press release on November 3 saying that Bashir Zeb will no longer be the Commander-in-Chief of the organization. This statement was published in Balochistan Post. The organization said that all administrative, military and policy decision-making powers held by Bashir Zeb have now been handed over to the Senior Command Council. This council will take all major decisions of the organization until the new commander is appointed. According to Balochistan Post, the decision to remove Bashir Zeb was taken in the meeting of top committees of BLA held on October 16. The commanders attending the meeting unanimously approved the change in leadership. The BLA described the change as a peaceful leadership transition in accordance with the organization’s rules. The organization claims that the decision to remove Bashir Zeb neither led to any division in the organization nor created a situation of conflict between the commanders. The reason for removal and the whereabouts of Bashir Zeb is not clear. BLA has not given any specific reason behind the removal of Bashir Zeb from the post. The organization only said that this decision has been taken under its constitutional rules made in 2018. According to these rules, no commander can remain at the top post of the organization throughout his life. At the same time, no information has been revealed about the current whereabouts of Bashir Zeb. It is not clear whether they are now free, in custody or have gone somewhere else. The news of his being injured or undergoing treatment elsewhere has also not been confirmed. Major attacks by BLA under the leadership of Bashir Zeb Due to continuous attacks by BLA, maintaining security in Balochistan had become a big challenge for the Pakistan Army and Government. Security forces under the leadership of Army Chief Asim Munir had to conduct continuous operations against the organization. In such a situation, the decision to suddenly remove Bashir Zeb from the post has raised many questions. Due to the failure of Operation Herof-2, differences increased in BLA. Internal differences regarding the military strategy of the organization could also be a reason for the removal of Bashir Zeib. According to a report by Pakistan Institute for Conflict and Security Studies (PICSS), there was resentment among the top BLA commanders for several months regarding the outcome of Operation Herof-2. Operation Herof-2 started on 31 January 2026. Under this, BLA had carried out several simultaneous attacks on Pakistani security forces and government targets in Balochistan. But the organization had to suffer heavy losses in retaliation by the Pakistani Army. Controversy over fielding a large number of fighters simultaneously According to PICSS, differences had arisen between Bashir Zeb and Captain Rehman Gul, head of BLA’s special suicide unit Majeed Brigade, over the outcome of the operation. Quoting sources having knowledge of the internal affairs of the organization, PICSS said that Rehman Gul had raised questions on Bashir Zeb’s strategy of carrying out the attacks. They believed that by sending a large number of fighters to many places simultaneously, they became easy targets of Pakistani security forces. Rehman Gul was instead in favor of sending fighters in small groups. He believed that such groups could attack suddenly and change their location immediately. This would have made it difficult for Pakistani security forces to capture them. Claim of killing 215 fighters in a week: After Operation Herof-2, Pakistani security forces launched retaliatory operations against BLA. According to PICSS estimates, at least 215 BLA fighters were killed in these actions within a week. At the same time, the organization had accepted the death of 96 fighters. According to the think tank, deploying a large number of fighters simultaneously at different places helped the Pakistani Army in tracking their locations and activities. This made it easier for the security forces to take action against them. There was also resentment over the use of female suicide bombers. Under the leadership of Bashir Zeb, BLA had increased the use of suicide attacks. Female suicide bombers were also included in these. This strategy was criticized both outside and inside the organization. According to BBC Urdu report, people in the organization believed that the use of female suicide bombers harmed the entire Baloch movement. Especially the support for this movement outside Balochistan weakened. According to Pakistani researcher Malik Siraj Akbar, BLA was doing this deliberately, because attacks involving female attackers get more space in the media. Khurram Iqbal, an expert at Quaid-e-Azam University, told BBC Urdu that the more violent the BLA’s attacks became, the less support it received outside Balochistan. According to him, suicide attacks are not considered good in the world. Pocket interference in decisions started decreasing from February itself. According to the PICSS report, the effect of these differences started becoming visible from February 2026 itself. Bashir Zeb gradually started being isolated from the major decision-making process of the organization. After this, Captain Rehman Gul’s role in military operations and other work of the organization increased. However, the BLA did not mention Operation Herof-2 or any dispute between commanders as the reason for Bashir Zeb’s removal. This information is based on the think tank’s report and its sources. ———————————- Also read this news… Iran sent a new proposal to America with 7 conditions: Said- Will talk only when these are fulfilled, also refused to open Hormuz.
