A 6.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in Bohol province of the Philippines on Tuesday. The American Geological Survey (USGS) had earlier described it as 7.0, but later reduced it to 6.9.
The epicenter of the earthquake was about 11 km east-east from Kalape city of Bohol province. About 33,000 people live in Kalapay. People came out of their homes as soon as the earthquake was felt.
The government and the relief team are taking stock of the situation. No casualties have been reported yet.
The Prashant Tsunami Warning Center has said that this earthquake is not a threat to tsunami. He told that people do not need to panic. At the same time, the government says that they are keeping an eye on the situation.

The Philippines is near the Ring of Fire, so earthquake is common here. Ring of fire is an area where there are many containers as well as Oceanic tectonic plates.
