Russian President Putin spoke to the heads of news agencies from around the world in St. Petersburg on June 4.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that America is trying to put pressure on India on many issues including its relationship with Russia. But such efforts are useless. India will oppose this.
Putin also praised India and Prime Minister Modi during his conversation with the heads of major news agencies of the world including PTI. He said- India is a great country. India is a great country and democracy. Russia considers it its trusted partner.
The Russian President further said- India gives priority to its national interests. India-Russia partnership will not be affected by its growing relations with America. Its relations with Russia will remain as strong as before.

Putin said- trade between India and Russia will reach 100 billion dollars
Putin said- We are happy that India is expanding relations with all those countries which it considers important for its national interests. Putin expressed confidence that trade between India and Russia will reach $100 billion in the coming years.
He said- India is among the largest economies of the world and is counted among the countries with the fastest growth rate. This achievement was not achieved suddenly, but is the result of continuous hard work and policies of the government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
‘Putting pressure on India is harmful for international relations’
The Russian President said that some Western countries had tried to pressure India to reduce cooperation with Russia. However, now everyone has understood that putting pressure on Prime Minister Modi and India will prove harmful for international relations.
Putin’s visit to India in September, Modi will also visit Russia
Putin’s statement came before his visit to India. Putin will participate in the BRICS summit to be held in New Delhi on 12 and 13 September. India is presiding over BRICS this year. This will be Putin’s second visit to India within a year. PM Modi will also visit Russia this year.
The Russian President visited India on 4 December 2025 to participate in the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit. This was Putin’s first visit to India after the start of the Ukraine war. Before this, he last came to India in 2021.

After reaching Delhi, both the leaders went to the PM residence in the same Toyota SUV.
Important agreements signed between India and Russia in December 2025
- Energy Cooperation:Russia assured that it will continue to supply fuel to India’s growing economy continuously and without interruption.
- Industrial Partnership:Indian companies signed an agreement with Russia’s URALCHEM to set up a urea plant in Russia.
- Food Safety:India’s FSSAI and Russia’s consumer safety agency signed formal agreements to strengthen food safety regulations.
- Healthcare Collaboration:Several MoUs were signed to increase cooperation in medical research and health services.
- Maritime Logistics:An MoU was signed to enhance India-Russia cooperation in ports and shipping operations.
- Migration and Mobility:Both countries signed agreements to ease the movement of people and simplify migration processes.
