Asif said- These are big bureaucrats, who are living a life of retirement comfortably by corruption of billions of rupees. The bureaucracy is making our land dirty.

He claimed that a senior bureaucrat near Pakistani Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bujdar had received a 4 billion Pakistani rupee salute (gift) at his daughter’s wedding.

The Financial Action Task Force considers Portugal a low risk country. Countries like Britain and UAE are strict monitoring, so Pakistani bureaucrats consider Portugal a safe where for money laundering.

Pakistani bureaucrats buy property in Portugal to show the wealth earned by corruption. This money is sent from hawala via “Gulf-Europe Laundering Corridor”.

Pakistan at number 135 in corruption rankings

Pakistan has been struggling with corruption for a long time. According to a report by Transparency International, Pakistan’s ranking is 135 in 180 countries in the 2024 Corruption Perception Index (CPI).

In this report to be released every year, it was reported that Pakistan’s CPI score was 29 in 2023, which fell 2 points to 27 in 2024. According to the report, India is ranked 96th, Sri Lanka 121st, Bangladesh 151st and China 76th in 180 countries.
