Violent clashes broke out on Monday between security forces and Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) protesters in Pakistan’s Punjab province. One police officer died and dozens of other officers were injured.
These protesters were opposing Trump’s peace plan in Gaza. Actually, Pakistan has supported this plan. Tension has increased in the country regarding this. TLP is led by Saad Hussain Rizvi. They carried out a long march from Lahore to Islamabad as part of an anti-government, pro-Gaza and anti-Israel campaign.
In Muridke, police took strict action to stop the protesters. Security forces, including Pakistan Rangers, used lathicharge and tear gas. The protesters had set up camps at many places, but despite heavy barricades, violence broke out.
Police arrested more than 100 people during Saturday’s protests, with protesters alleging that security forces used weapons against them. Media coverage is also banned here.
