Former Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa died on Saturday at the age of 65. In February, he suffered a serious head injury after slipping in the bathroom of his home, after which he was undergoing treatment at the Military Hospital in Rawalpindi and was admitted in the ICU.
Doctors performed his surgery. Doctors initially declared the surgery a success, but his condition remained critical and was kept under constant observation.
Bajwa was the Army Chief of Pakistan from 2016 to 2022 and even after retirement, was considered influential in the country’s politics and security matters.

Was in the news due to controversies with Imran Khan
Qamar Javed Bajwa was in the news a lot regarding the dispute with former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. Initially their relationship was good, but later the situation completely changed.
When Imran Khan became Prime Minister in 2018, it was said that the government and the army were on the ‘one page’. It is believed that at that time the army under the leadership of Bajwa had the support of the Imran government and the coordination between the two was good.
But differences started between the two regarding the appointment of ISI chief in 2021. The Army wanted Nadeem Anjum to be made the ISI Chief immediately, while Imran Khan was postponing this decision. From here the rift in their relationship started.
After this, Imran Khan’s government fell in 2022. Imran Khan alleged that the army abandoned him and supported the opposition. However, the army denied these allegations.
After leaving the government, Imran Khan started openly criticizing Bajwa and the army. His statement ‘neutral is an animal’ further increased this controversy.

Bajwa’s family became billionaires in 6 years
After the retirement of Qamar Javed Bajwa, there was a big controversy regarding his family’s property. In a 2022 report by Pakistani journalist Ahmed Noorani, it was said that his family’s wealth had increased rapidly to billions in just 6 years.
According to the report, Bajwa’s relatives and friends built farm houses in big cities like Karachi and Lahore, started big businesses and also bought property in foreign countries.
The report said that the total value of all these properties could be more than 1200 crore Pakistani rupees. This property was mainly said to be in the name of his wife Ayesha Amjad, daughter-in-law Mahnoor Sabir and other close family members.
According to the report, till 2015, Ayesha Amjad did not have any property in her name, but in 2016 suddenly many properties were purchased and her wealth increased rapidly. Similarly, the wealth of his daughter-in-law Mahnoor Sabir also increased from zero to almost one billion rupees shortly after marriage.
