Security has been beefed up at tourist spots across Kashmir ahead of the first anniversary of the Pahalgam terror attack. All security agencies have been instructed to remain alert about any possible terrorist attack near tourist spots on the anniversary of the Pahalgam attack.
Several steps have been taken to ensure the safety of tourists visiting Pahalgam. Every service provider has been investigated. They have been registered. They have been given a unique QR code. It contains the person’s personal information and other details.
In fact, on April 22 last year, Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists had shot dead 26 people in Bysaran Valley of Pahalgam. These included 25 tourists and one pony rider.
Tourists had stopped coming from Jammu and Kashmir due to the attack. About 50 tourist spots were closed. Later some spots were reopened after security audit.

Why QR Code Initiative, what is there in it
Even the vendors from outside JK who come here to earn their livelihood have been properly verified and checked by the police to ensure that there are no security lapses. Therefore a unique QR code has been given.
The QR code contains the name of the service provider, father’s name, complete address, mobile number, Aadhaar number, registration number, route to work, and information whether the police has verified it or not.
All service providers working in Pahalgam, including pony-ride operators, photographers, vendors and others, have been issued QR codes only after verification.
