Singer Alka Yagnik was honored with Padma Bhushan at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday. Before receiving the honour, the singer took the blessings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and then stepped towards President Draupadi Murmu to receive the award. After receiving the honour, the singer has now shared an emotional post saying that she has been going through a difficult phase for the last 2 years. Sharing a picture with President Draupadi Murmu, Alka Yagnik wrote from the official Instagram account, ‘For the last 2 years I have been away from the public eye. Neither did she participate in public programs nor shared much about her life. Many of you know that I was going through a difficult health period. During such times, your love, prayers, messages and unwavering support remained with me at every step. She further wrote, ‘Today when I walked out to receive the Padma Bhushan, one of the country’s most prestigious civilian honours, my heart was full of gratitude. This honor is extremely humbling and emotional for me. Even though my name is written on it, this honor equally belongs to all those people who adopted my voice, kept my songs alive for generations and supported me in all my good and bad times. ‘This moment is also special for me because it is not only a recognition of my work, but also a reminder of the strength that comes from love, hope and courage. I am slowly getting back on the path of my life and being here today means a lot to me. This is not just for me, but also for all of you who have been a part of this journey. Alka Yagnik has a rare neuro disease, has difficulty in hearing. Singer Alka Yagnik has been away from music for the last 2 years. He has a rare neuro disease, due to which he has almost lost his hearing. He has been advised to stay away from loud music during treatment. Giving this information 2 years ago, Alka Yagnik had announced to take a break from music. She wrote from the official social media account, ‘A few weeks ago, when I got out of a flight, suddenly I stopped hearing. After gathering courage for several weeks after that incident, I now want to break my silence, because many people were asking why I am not visible these days. Doctors have told me that I have a rare disease called Sensory Neural Hearing Loss. It is caused by a viral infection. This was a big problem that came suddenly, for which I was not at all prepared. She further wrote, ‘I am still trying to understand and accept this situation. My only request to all of you is to remember me in your prayers. I also want to tell my fans and young colleagues to be careful about very loud music and excessive use of headphones. ‘One day I would like to talk in detail about the health problems associated with my profession and the dangers they pose. Currently, with the love and support of all of you, I am trying to make my life normal again and hope to be back with you all soon. These celebs received Padma Bhushan award.
