At the same time, more than 6,000 Indian-Americans and leaders of different religions participated in the ‘Universal Oneness Celebration’ program organized in Madison Square on Saturday. In his address, Bhagwat described unity in diversity as part of India’s DNA.

He said- The ability to think is a boon for humans. Right thinking takes a person closer to God, while wrong thinking takes him closer to animals.

Before Bhagwat’s address, leaders of different religions also gave the message of unity, diversity, compassion and help to each other. 5 big things about Bhagwat’s speech…

1. Religion is not just worship, it is a rule to keep life balanced: Bhagwat said that the principle which is called religion in India should not be understood only as religion or worship. Religion is the system that governs the universe and life. It helps in maintaining balance between different situations in life.

2. Material happiness alone does not bring satisfaction in life: Bhagwat said that money, goods and other material comforts cannot always give happiness. Material happiness is temporary and despite having a lot of facilities, there may be a lack of satisfaction.

3. America is the land of work, be true to it: Bhagwat told the Indians living in America that your first responsibility is towards your workplace, you should be loyal to it.

4. There is no direct retirement in life, every stage has its own responsibility: Bhagwat said that there are four stages in a human being’s life – Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha and Sannyasa. It is important to first learn, then handle the family and society and later pass on your experiences to the next generation.

5. Individuals, Society and Environment Move Together: Bhagwat said that neither the individual nor the society should be suppressed for progress. The welfare of the individual, society and environment should go hand in hand.

Bhagwat visits 3 countries on the occasion of centenary of RSS

Bhagwat went to New York on 25 August. This is the first stop of his 17-day three-nation tour. This visit of Bhagwat is taking place under the global outreach program of the centenary year of RSS. Many programs are being organized in the country and abroad on the occasion of completion of 100 years of RSS. After America, Bhagwat will go to Canada and Britain.

New York Mayor had opposed Bhagwat’s program

Before Bhagwat’s program, New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani had said that he does not support this RSS rally. When Mamdani was asked whether the RSS program should be cancelled, he said – I do not know whether the city has the right to cancel any private program or not.

American Commission has also demanded a ban on RSS

Before Bhagwat’s visit to America, the US Commission for International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) had demanded a ban on RSS. On August 19, the Commission also appealed to the US government not to provide high level diplomatic facilities to RSS leaders and not to meet them officially.

However, India objected to these comments of USCIRF. On August 20, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal had described the Commission as a ‘biased institution’. He said that USCIRF has been making wrong and provocative statements about India for a long time, hence there is no need to take its words seriously.

Bhagwat also went to America in 2018

Mohan Bhagwat had earlier gone to America in September 2018. He participated in the Second World Hindu Congress held in Chicago from 7 to 9 September 2018. About 2,500 delegates from 60 countries participated in this program. Bhagwat had given the keynote address at the inaugural session of the Congress.

Available reports of this 2018 visit do not mention Bhagwat meeting any American diplomat or any formal diplomatic honor being given to him. His visit mainly focused on the World Hindu Congress and its associated programmes.
