In Nepal, the government of Prime Minister Balen Shah has completely banned student politics. Along with this, traditional examinations for children up to class 5 have also been abolished and schools and colleges have been ordered to change their foreign names to Nepali.

In the order issued on Saturday night, the government said that all these decisions have been taken under its 100-day action plan, the objective of which is to keep education away from politics and improve it.

According to media reports, now there will be no political activity of any kind in schools and colleges. Student organizations associated with all political parties will have to remove their offices from the college campus within 60 days.

In place of these, the government will start new platforms like ‘Student Council’ or ‘Voice of Students’ within 90 days, which will be completely non-political and will work only on the problems of the students.

Nepali citizenship is not necessary to study till graduation.

The government has clearly said that now schools and colleges will not be bases of politics, but will work only for education. This step has been taken to end the political interference that has been going on in educational institutions for a long time.

Some other important changes have also been made for the students. Now, Nepalese citizenship will not be necessary for studies till graduation, so that no one’s studies stop due to lack of documents.

The government has also directed that schools and colleges which have foreign names, such as Oxford, Pentagon or St. Xavier’s, will have to change their names within this year.

Orders to release exam results on time

Apart from this, universities have been given strict instructions to release the results of the examination within the stipulated time. The government says that till now the future of the students has been affected due to delay in the results and many times they have to leave their studies and go abroad.

The government believes that political interference is the major reason for delays and disturbances in the education system. Through the new rules, the study schedule will now be implemented on time.

Assets of leaders and officers will be investigated

According to the plan of Nepal government, the properties of big leaders and officers will be investigated. For this, a committee will be formed within 15 days, which will investigate the assets of people holding senior positions after 2006. After this, cases between 1991 and 2006 will also be looked at.

The government wants that government work should be done cleanly and responsibly. For this, every ministry will have to complete its work within the stipulated time. Who has to do what and by when, it will be decided in advance and its report will have to be given to the Prime Minister’s Office.

The government is also preparing for changes in the constitution. For this, a paper will be prepared within 7 days, so that it can be discussed openly.

The government has also said that those who have faced injustice or discrimination in the past will be accepted within 15 days. After this, a plan for help and improvement will be made for them.

Thousands of teachers demonstrated in Kathmandu last year

Last year thousands of teachers took to the streets in Kathmandu. The matter had escalated so much that about 29 thousand government schools across the country had to be closed. The education of lakhs of students suddenly stopped and the entire system came to a standstill.

Actually, this protest was regarding an education bill brought in the Parliament. Teachers feared that the government was giving control of schools to the local level, which could put their jobs in trouble.

He said that if the control of schools goes to local governments, then the influence of politics will increase further and their rights will be reduced.

During the demonstration, teachers took to the streets and raised slogans, blocked the roads leading to Parliament and tried to put pressure on the government.

Last year, thousands of teachers in Nepal had protested against giving control of schools to the local level.
