Date: 11 February Location: White House, Washington DC
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had reached the White House in the morning itself. He had been pressurizing America for several months to launch a major attack on Iran. However, this time the meeting was very secret. He was taken straight inside without any formal welcome so that the media did not know anything.
The talks first took place in the Cabinet Room and were then taken to the Situation Room of the White House, where the actual meeting took place. This is the same place where America takes major decisions related to war and national security, but generally foreign leaders are not brought here.
Usually, when there is a big meeting, Trump sits at the head of the table. From there he sees everyone and leads the meeting. But in this meeting, Trump sat on the edge of the table, and his face was towards the big screen on the wall.
Trump-Netanyahu were face to face. David Barnia, the head of Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad, and Israeli military officers were joined on the screen. This created an atmosphere as if Netanyahu was standing with his entire command during a war.
Very few people were involved in this meeting so that no information went out. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, CIA chief John Ratcliffe, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Kaine, Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff were present. White House Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles was also there. Vice President JD Vance was not at the meeting because he was in Azerbaijan and the meeting was scheduled suddenly.

Netanyahu said – this is the right time to attack Iran
Netanyahu gave an hour-long presentation and tried to convince Trump that this was the right time to attack Iran. He said that Iran’s government has become weak and if America and Israel attack together, Iran’s military power can be destroyed quickly.
Netanyahu claimed that Iran’s missile system could be destroyed within a few weeks and the government would be so weak that it would not be able to close the Strait of Hormuz.
Netanyahu also said that protests could start again inside Iran and if Israel secretly helps, then these demonstrations could reach the point of toppling the government. He also suggested that Kurdish fighters from Iraq could cross into Iran and open another front that would quickly bring down the government.
During this, a video was also shown which showed the possible leaders who can take over power after the fall of the government. It also contained the name of Reza Pahlavi, who is the son of the last Shah of Iran and currently lives in America.
Netanyahu repeatedly reiterated that it is necessary to attack now, because if there is a delay, Iran will become stronger. He said the risk of doing nothing was greater than the risk of attacking.

Trump got influenced by Netanyahu’s words
Trump was greatly impressed by this presentation. He said that this planning seems right to him. This let Netanyahu know that America could come along. After this, the job of American intelligence agencies was to understand this planning.
The next day, a meeting of only American officials was held in the Situation Room. In this the scheme was divided into 4 parts. The first was to eliminate Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and the top leadership. The second was to destroy Iran’s military power. The third was to create rebellion within the country and the fourth was to change the government and bring a new system.
Intelligence agencies said that the first two objectives can be achieved, but the remaining two are far from reality. CIA Chief John Ratcliffe called it a joke and Marco Rubio bluntly called it useless.
When Trump came to the meeting, he was given the same report. Vice President JD Vance had also returned and expressed deep concern over the plan. General Dan Kane also said that Israel often makes exaggerated plans because it needs America’s help.
After this, Trump clearly said that even if changing the government is not possible, it does not matter. He said that it would be a matter of Israel or Iran, but his decision would not depend on it. Their focus was mainly on eliminating Iran’s top leaders and breaking its military strength.

Trump misunderstands Iran as weak
Several meetings took place in the coming days. In these meetings, General Kane warned that if a major war started against Iran, America’s weapons could run out rapidly. Missile interceptors, in particular, are already in short supply because the US has been helping Ukraine and Israel. He also said that it would be very difficult to secure Hormuz and if Iran closes it, it would have a major impact on global oil supply.
But Trump was confident that the war would end very quickly. They felt that Iran would not be able to respond much, as was seen after the earlier attacks in June.
Vance was most opposed to starting the war
General Kane never said that war was wrong but he repeatedly warned of its dangers. He used to ask on every planning what would happen after that, but Trump often paid attention to only those things which matched his ideas.
There were differences within the cabinet also. Defense Minister Hegseth was the biggest supporter of the war. Marco Rubio was a little cautious and wanted to continue the policy of first pressure, but he did not try to stop Trump. Suzy Wiles was also concerned that the start of a new war would have political and economic consequences, especially as oil prices might rise, but she too did not openly oppose.
Vice President JD Vance opposed the most. He said this war would be very costly, could weaken America’s strength and anger Trump’s supporters. He believed that even if any action has to be taken, it should be limited and should not turn into a full-scale war.
Vance also feared that it was difficult to predict what Iran would do in return. If Hormuz is closed, petrol prices in America will increase rapidly and it will have a big political impact.

Trump had made up his mind to attack Iran
During this time, another important intelligence came to light that the Supreme Leader of Iran and other senior officials were going to meet together in an open place, where they could be attacked. This was considered a rare opportunity.
Trump once again gave Iran a chance for agreement. Meanwhile, Kushner and Witkoff held talks with Iran in Oman and Switzerland. He even proposed that Iran be given free fuel for its entire nuclear program, but Iran rejected this, calling it against its dignity.
Kushner and Witkoff told Trump that a deal was possible but that it would take several months and that Iran was biding its time.
The final meeting took place in the last days of February. By this time everyone’s opinion was clear. There was no new argument, only a decision remained to be taken. The meeting lasted for about one and a half hours.
During this entire process it was clearly visible that Trump had already made up his mind. He was just waiting for the right time. From here the final decision of America to join the war against Iran was almost finalized.
At that last meeting, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and General Dan Kane explained the entire plan of attack. He told how the attack would take place. How will it be started and how will it proceed?
After this, President Trump said that he wants to hear the opinion of everyone sitting at the table.
Vice President JD Vance- Oppose
Vance clearly said that he finds this entire plan wrong. But he also said that if the President takes this decision, he will support him. That is, he was personally opposed, but in the end he was ready to stand by the President’s decision.
Chief of Staff Suzy Wiles- Support
Suzy Wiles said that if Trump feels it is necessary for America’s national security, then he should move forward.
CIA Chief Ratcliffe- did not give opinion
Ratcliffe did not say whether or not to attack, but he provided new intelligence. He told that Iran’s top leadership is going to gather at the Ayatollah’s compound in Tehran, which could be a big opportunity to attack. He also said that if regime change meant eliminating only the supreme leader, then it could be possible.
Legal Adviser David Warrington- Support
After this, opinion was taken from White House legal advisor David Warrington. He said that the plan that has been made is legally correct and America can do it. He told Trump that if Israel is going to attack this, then America should also support.
Communications Director Steven Cheung- Oppose
White House Communications Director Steven Cheung talked about the political and public impact of this decision. He said that Trump had come to the election saying that he would not start new wars. People did not vote for war abroad.
He also raised the question that if the attack is carried out now, what answer will be given to what was said in the last eight months that Iran’s nuclear sites have been completely destroyed. Although he did not say yes or no directly, he definitely said that whatever decision Trump takes will be considered right.
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt- Support
Press Secretary Caroline Levitt said it was entirely the president’s decision and the media team would handle it.
Defense Minister Pete Hegseth- Support
Defense Minister Hegseth clearly spoke in favor of war. He said that if Iran has to be dealt with sooner or later, it is better to do it now. He also told how much time and with what strength this campaign can be carried out.
Joint Chiefs Chairman General Dan Kane- did not give opinion
General Dan Kane explained the risks and said that this war would rapidly deplete America’s weapons stockpile. He did not give any personal opinion. He said that if the President orders, the army will fulfill it. He also explained how the attack would proceed and how much the US could weaken Iran’s military strength.
Foreign Minister Marco Rubio- mixed reaction
Secretary of State Marco Rubio gave the most clear and balanced opinion. He said that if the aim is to change the government or create rebellion from within, then this should not be done. But if the goal is to eliminate Iran’s missile program, it is possible and can be done.
Everyone left Trump to his decision
Almost everyone present at the meeting ultimately gave up on Trump’s decision. Everyone knew that Trump had been taking decisions by taking big risks before and had often been successful. That’s why this time also no one came in his way.
Finally Trump said, “I think we should do this. It is important that Iran does not have nuclear weapons and that it cannot attack Israel or other countries in the region with missiles.”
General Kaine told Trump that he had a little time and he did not need to give final orders until 4 pm the next day.
The next day Trump was on Air Force One. He gave the final order just 22 minutes before the scheduled time. His message was, “Operation Epic Fury is approved. It will not be stopped. Best wishes.”
It was from here that the formal decision was taken to launch a military operation against Iran.
