BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has apologized for his statement on former Odisha Chief Minister Biju Patnaik. Said on social media platform If sentiments have been hurt by my statement, I apologize unconditionally.
He said that his statements were his personal opinion and were misinterpreted. He clarified that what was said about Nehru ji was linked to Biju Patnaik, which is not correct.
In fact, while talking to journalists in New Delhi on March 27, Dubey had alleged that former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru had taken the help of America and CIA in the 1962 war and Biju Patnaik was the link between America, CIA and Nehru.

PM Modi praised Biju Patnaik
Amidst this controversy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised Biju Patnaik in a letter written to the Chief Minister of Odisha on the occasion of Utkal Day on Wednesday. He described him as a leader dedicated to nation building and a symbol of courage.
After Dubey’s statement, former Odisha CM and Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief Naveen Patnaik on Monday criticized BJP MP Nishikant Dubey for his remarks on father Biju Patnaik.
While talking to the media in Bhubaneswar, Patnaik had said that the statement of the BJP MP is objectionable and he needs a mental doctor.
BJD had walked out of Rajya Sabha on Monday in protest against Nishikant Dubey’s remarks. As soon as the proceedings began, Sasmit Patra said, ‘Nishikant Dubey has described Biju Patnaik as a CIA agent, which is a completely wrong and fabricated statement.’
BJD MP Sasmit Patra had opposed Nishikant Dubey’s remarks in the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Nishikant had said that Nehru fought the war with American money.
BJP MP Nishikant Dubey had claimed on March 27 that Nehru fought the 1962 China war with the help of American money and CIA agents. Dubey said he released two letters from Nehru on social media, in which instructions have been given to officials, especially the US Ambassador.
He further said – In 1963-64, at the behest of America, a nuclear device was installed on Nanda Devi, which has not been found till date. The BJP MP alleged that Odisha’s Charbatiya airbase, which featured Biju Patnaik, was built for U-2 spy planes and was used by the US from 1963 to 1979.
Biju Patnaik was a freedom fighter and two-time CM.
Biju Patnaik was the Chief Minister of Odisha twice (1961–63, 1990–95). He was a freedom fighter and pilot. Known for missions such as the Jakarta flight to rescue Indonesian fighters in 1947.
He also played an important role during the Second World War.
After his death on 17 April 1997, his son Naveen Patnaik founded Biju Janata Dal. Naveen Patnaik was the Chief Minister of Odisha for five consecutive terms from 5 March 2000 to 12 June 2024.
