Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman feels his life is in danger. According to the American website Politico, he told American officials that he is putting himself in danger by making deals with Israel and America.

He also mentioned Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. He was assassinated in 1981 because of his peace agreement with Israel in 1978. Prince Salman asked what arrangements did the US make to protect Sadat?

Prince Salman told the US officials that if any peace agreement is to be made with Israel, then the creation of a separate Palestinian state is necessary for this. Especially at a time when the anger of the Arabs against Israel has increased due to the fighting in Gaza.

Salman wants to do the deal despite the threat
The report says that Prince Salman is aware of the losses he will incur by befriending Israel. He still wants to do a mega deal with the US and Israel. He considers it necessary for Saudi Arabia.

After establishing friendship with Israel, America will take responsibility for Israel’s security. Apart from this, it can also get help from America in the field of civilian nuclear program and technology.

After this mega deal, Saudi Arabia may limit its transactions with China. The report says that given Saudi’s importance among Muslim countries, this deal can prove to be a boon for Israel.

Prince Salman wants to do a deal with Israel but Netanyahu is not ready for a separate Palestinian state.

Netanyahu not ready for a separate Palestinian state
Israel is not agreeing to create a separate Palestinian state under any circumstances, which Prince Salman has a problem with. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said many times before that he will never agree to a separate Palestinian state.

Due to this stubbornness of Netanyahu, it does not seem possible to establish normal relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Information about when Crown Prince Salman spoke to American officials is not available.

According to the Times of Israel, a deal was to be struck between Israel and Saudi Arabia this year, but it was postponed due to the Gaza war. The US is due to have presidential elections in November, so a deal is not expected to be struck this year.

Saudi Arabia does not recognise Israel
Crown Prince Salman said in September 2023 that he was very close to normalizing relations with Israel, but the situation changed after the Hamas attack on October 7. In February this year, Saudi Arabia said that it would not establish any political relations with Israel.

In 2002, it was decided that Israel would have to vacate all the areas it occupied during the 1967 war. Palestine would have to be recognised as an independent country. East Jerusalem would have to be recognised as its capital. All Arab countries agreed to these conditions.
