Ban was imposed in the last term also

Even during his previous tenure, Donald Trump had banned transgenders from joining the army. However, those who were already in the army at that time were not removed. Later, Joe Biden removed this ban after becoming President.

Out of the 15 thousand transgender soldiers currently in the US Army, 2200 have changed their gender through surgery. The remaining soldiers have registered their identity as transgender.

According to BBC report, at present there are more than 4 lakh foreign students registered in America who do not have their documents. In such a situation, they may have to face Trump’s actions against illegal immigrants.

Apart from this, Trump can further tighten the rules related to H1-B visa program. Trump had tightened the eligibility criteria for H-1B during his last term. Due to this, there was a significant increase in the number of applications related to H1-B visa being rejected.

In 2015, only 6% of applications in H1-B visa category were rejected, whereas in 2019 this figure increased to 24%. Apart from this, during Trump’s previous tenure, the process of tourist and short-term visas also became longer. In 2017, it took 28 days to get a tourist visa for America. In 2022, this period increased to 88 days.
