A teacher in Taiwan has been sentenced to 28 years in prison for raping six girls. According to the Taipei Times, 30-year-old kindergarten teacher Mao Chun Shen was convicted of 11 counts of raping six girls, 207 counts of exploitation, and 6 counts of making obscene photos and videos.
The Taipei court said Mao was found guilty on a total of 224 counts, which according to the law would make his total sentence 1252 years and 6 months. However, he was sentenced to 28 years. Mao can still appeal against this.
Taiwanese police arrested Mao last year after several cases came to light.
The first case came in 2022
Mao was arrested in July last year on charges of sexually abusing children at the Taipei Pyramid School. The first case was registered against him in 2022. However, the investigation was closed due to lack of evidence then. Later, when many cases came to light, he was banned from teaching in schools last year. The special thing is that Mao is the son of the owner of the Taipei Pyramid School.
Mao has a college degree in social work and started teaching at a school in Taipei in September 2021. Here she was responsible for managing CCTV, looking after children during lunch breaks, assisting teachers in teaching them, and picking up and dropping children to school.
600 pornographic videos found in the phone
There are still many allegations against Mao which are under investigation. The full details of Mao’s crime came to light when the families of the victim children demanded that his phone be confiscated. More than 600 pornographic videos and pictures of children were present in his phone. After the evidence came to light, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an also publicly apologized in July last month.
