Tamil Nadu received heavy rains on December 2 after the storm made landfall on December 1. NDRF team took people to safe place.
There were 12 deaths in Tamil Nadu due to the impact of the Fangal storm that arose from the Bay of Bengal. Chief Minister Stalin told this in a letter written to Prime Minister Modi on Monday. He wrote- Despite our best efforts, everything was ruined.
CM said-
1.5 crore people from 69 lakh families have been badly affected by the storm. Villupuram, Tiruvannamalai and Kallakurichi received a season’s worth of rain (more than 50 cm) in a single day, causing floods.
2,416 huts, 721 houses, 963 cattle died, 2 lakh hectares of land destroyed, 9,000 KM roads, 1,936 schools destroyed. To fix everything temporarily, Rs 2,475 crore will be required. Provide immediate help of Rs 2 thousand crore through NDRF fund.
Actually, the Fengal storm hit the coast between Karaikal in Puducherry and Mahabalipuram in Tamil Nadu at 7:30 pm on 30 November. After weakening, the storm reached Kerala, Karnataka, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on 2 December. It is raining continuously in these states also.

- At the time of landfall of the storm, the wind blew at a speed of 90 kilometers per hour. Heavy rainfall occurred in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kanchipuram, Chengalpattu and Villupuram. Roads and power lines were damaged in Kallakurichi, Cuddalore and Tiruvannamalai. The deluge has had a serious impact on people’s livelihood.
- We deployed ministers and senior officials in the affected districts. 9 teams of NDRF and 9 teams of SDRF have also been deployed. 38,000 government officials and 1 lakh trained first responders are also engaged in rescue and relief operations. Relief camp and common kitchen have been started.
- 12 thousand motor pumps have been sent to remove water from the flooded areas. Apart from the NDRF funds, a central team can also be sent to assess the damage, after which more funds can be sought to restore the entire state.
Landslide in Tiruvannamalai, Tamil Nadu, 5 dead, 2 missing
A landslide occurred on a hill in Tiruvannamalai in Tamil Nadu. According to NDRF, a rock weighing about 40 tonnes rolled down from the mountain and fell on the houses on the road in VUC Nagar, causing 2 houses to be razed to the ground. 5 people died due to being buried under the debris. 2 people are still missing.

Apart from NDRF, Tiruvannamalai police is also engaged in rescue along with the local people.
The rescue team says that there is a rock hanging on the hill of Annamalai temple which can fall any time. Therefore, 50 to 80 people have been evacuated from the area.
